RE: On -Call Policy
Attached is an on-call policy, which is designed to assist the Police Department in determining
which Town personnel or contact persons can be contacted in response to emergency events.
Please note that in anticipation of potential complications arising from theYear 2000 transition,
all Town employees will be considered on-call this weekend. Your availability will be greatly
appreciated in the unlikely event that your services are needed.

EMPLOYEE ON-CALL POLICY and EMERGENCY CONTACTS INFORMATION
Policy Intent
In order to ensure the safety of Town residents during natural disasters and other
emergency events, all Town employees who are capable of providing assistance will be
considered "on-call" during such events.
General Procedures
Hurricane Events
Before, during and immediately following a hurricane watch or warning, all employees
will be considered "on-call". Where weather forecasts allow, Town management will
make all possible scheduling accommodations to ensure that employees have
adequate time to secure their own homes and property prior to being called in for duty.
Other Emergency Events
During other emergency events, it will be left to the discretion of the Town Manager,
Police Chief, Finance/Utility Director, or on -duty Police supervisor, to determine whether
an employee's expertise or abilities are needed during non -work hours. If such a
determination is made, the employee will be contacted. If the employee is in the
County and available, the employee will be requested to report to the Town to provide
the necessary service.
The Police Chief shall also determine when Police personnel are on-call.

Note: The on -duty Police supervisor should use his own discretion in determining
whether an emergency situation warrants contacting any of the on-call personnel.
For all of the above situations, the Town Manager should be informed of the incident,
either by conversation or message.
Compensation
Non-exempt hourly employees will be eligible for overtime pay if called in to work on
weekends, evenings, holidays, or other non -work hours. Subject to approval by the
Town Manager, salaried exempt employees will only be eligible for overtime pay if
extensive additional hours on evenings, weekends or holidays have been logged.
