As we recently discussed on the phone, I am providing below, a summary of the
Town's long-standing policies regarding pool safety enclosure requirements. This list is
provided to assist the inspectors when conducting final pool inspections.
1. Sea walls along the intracoastal waterway are considered an adequate
barrier; as such, fences are not required along the sea wall side of a pool.
2. The barriers along the ocean side (east side) of pools on the beachfront
are handled on a case-by-case basis, usually as part of the site plan review.
3. We do not require retrofitting of existing pool barriers (for example, if a 4'
barrier or if no barrier exists).
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please let me know if I can provide any
further information.
