The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday Octob- er llth, 1928, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Reid, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit Permission was granted Glen Whitesell, to cut the curb on East Haven Ave, also on National Road at filling station. Permission was granted Emma nasty, to cut the curb at .1710 North "E" Street . A claim for payment of 16" of alley let south of West Main St . on west side of 3rd Street, was presented by Harrison Nichols, • and referred to engineer, the City Civil Enineer in reporting stated that the alley has been laid out exactly as opened by the Board on May 9th, 1927, and as far as he could see, Mr. Nichols is not entitled to any payment other than was awarded him in the assessment roll duly adopted for said opening.;. The Clerk was directed to mail a copy of said report, which . was unanimously adopted by the Board. The ten day period for filling petitions for materials for pav- ing Boyer Street and no petition having been received for mater- ial other than designated by the Board, the Board thereuton award the contract for improving of Bowyer Street, by construct- ing cement sidewalks, curb, gutter & planting trees on both sides and paving the roadway (specifying reinforced concrete) from Stevens Street to Williamsburgh Pike, under Improvement Resolution No. 73-1928. , to W. L. Magaw his being the lowest bid received Sep. 27, 1928. The Board directed the Finance Department to pay to John F. Hipskind, contractor the 5A reserves mattained under Improve- ment Resolutions No. 819 & 820-1927, in amount of $684.36 and The Board authorize E. E. Miller, Fire Chief to attend the National Convention of Fire Chiefs to be held at Philadelphia Penn. , the week of October 15th, 1928, his legitimate expenses to be paid by the City out of Fire Department Miscellaneous Expense appropriation. The Clerk was directed to request Dr. Schillinger, Secy, of Board of Puolic Re :lth, to have the Sanitary Inspector, to in- vestigate the septic tanks at property abutting South 23rd Street, between Main & South "E" Street, especially those on east Side of street, in an effort to stop the out-fall from flowing into the gutters in said street . • The Clerk was directed to serve notice on Wm. Haberkern and J . H. Schell to have the sidewalks repaired adjacent to their respective properties on south side of North "E" Street at No ' s. 815 & 817 North "E" Street . I91 The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons whose proper- ty is primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 853-1928 for the improvement of the alley between Southwest 4th & 5th Street by concrete roadway from Southwest "C" to "D" Street . No one remon- strating, the Board approved a final assessment roll confirming the primary assessment roll heretofore approved. And now order the same transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance. The Board met to hear remonstrances, of persons whose property is Primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 855-1928, for the improvement of the alley between Southwest 4th & 5th Street, by constructing cement roadway from Southwest "D" to ",E" Street . No. one remonstrating, the Board approved a final assessment roil con- firming the primary assessment roll as heretofore approved. And now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance . The Board met to hear remonstrances, of persons whose property is primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 867-1928, for the improvement of 1st alley south of West Main Street, by construct- ing cement roadway from Southwest 4th to 5th Street . No one remon- strating, the Board approved a final assessment roll confirming in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved. And now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance. The Board met to hear remonstrances of persons whose property is primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 868-1928, for the improvement of the alley between Southwest 4th & 5th Street, by constructing cement roadway from 1st alley south _of West Main Street to the 1st alley north of National Road. No one remonstrating the Board approved a final assessment roll, confirming in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved. And now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance . The Board received bids for grading the north one-half of South"L" Street, from South 9th to 13th Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 8 70-1920, as follows to-wit : " John F. Hipskind, bid; • Grading complete , 0.39.990 per cubic yard " Pyle & Ridgeway, bid; Grading complete $0.410 per cubic yard " E. A. Mariani & Co„ bid; Grading complete $0.470 per cubic yard " J. L. Teegarden Co. , bid; Grading complete $0. 520 per cubic yard The bid of J . F. Hipskind being the lowest & within the estimate ' of Engineer the contract was so awarded. The Board received quotations for street signs, from R.Lindmueller Co. Posts 8 ' X 2" 4 signs co mplete--$6. 50, each; without posts, 4 4.75 individual signs ..75 each, replacements . 70 each.
