The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 24-th, 1928, at 9 o 'clock A. M. McSsrb; Reid .andeMcFail being present,' r-: ,Henley befng7 absent. Two members of said Board being present. The follow- ing proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 863-1928, for the improve- fnent of Ridge Street, by constructing cement sidewalk, curb & gutter & planting trees on both sides of stretit, and grading &_ pa.ving the roadway with one of the following pavements, Sheet Asphalt, Rock As- phalt, -Reinforced Concrete or Bituminous Macadam, After hearing all persons interested who appeared, A remonstrance Prying o'dun filed against said improvement, Stephen Napier and Irvin Batchelor, re- quested to take their and their wires names from the remonstrance - they were -permitted so to do. , the Board referred the remonstrance - to the city engineering department for investigation and continue said hearing to Monday May. 28, 1928. The -Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No . 86 --1928, . for the improve- ment of •Sou.th " L" Street, by constructing cement curb & gutter on both sides 'of street, paving xgthxrunmrutx a. strip 18 feet wide thru t center -of street,, with one of the following p avements, Rein- forced, Concrete, Sheet -Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Bituminous Macadam Also, paving the remainder of the roadway to the edge of the gutter on both sides with surface treated macadam on a cinder gravel base, from South '5th to 9th Street, After hearing all persons interested and considering a remonstrance filed against said improvement , the Board referred emonstrance to the Engineering Department for in- vestigation as to property holders etc. , and thereupon decide that - the benefits to the 'property liable to be assessed for said improve- ments are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer and 'thereupon take final action -on said resolution, the same being confirmed subject to the report of -engineer on the re- monstrance.The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids, -on 1, 000 feet of Fire Hose, for use of Fire Department . - Permission was granted Corwin Smith to cut the curb for driveway at West 5th & Peacock Road. Sup 't . of Parks, reported that upon the instruction of the Board, his employees had labored 6 hours installing equipment at "Day Nurse- ry, and 7 hours at Starr Park at Memorial installed by Historical IlL Society in memory of David Hoover.The .Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 865-1928 for improvement of Richmond Avenue, by constructing cement curb, & - gutter, sidewalks where needed and grading & paving the roadway with either Sheet Asphalt , Rock Asphalt , Reinforced Concrete or Bituminous Macadam and planting of trees from Seogwick. to Northwest 9th Street . The Sup 't . , of Parks was directed to raise no more plants at Glen Miller Park, other than needed for nark purposes . 140 Thursday May 24th, 1928. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.856-1928 for the improvement of School Street, by constructing cement sidewalks, curb & gutter and planting of trees on both sides of street and grading street, from Sheridan to Northwest 5th Street, as follows to-wit : J. Teegarden & Co. , being the lowest and being within the estimate, contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No . 858- 1928, for improvement of alley between North 3rd & 4th St . from " C" Street north to alley 1st south of North "D" St ; thence -east to 4th Street, cement roadway as follows, viz : " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; Cement roadway - 40.24 sq-foot ; Sewer connections-. 1. 50 lin-ft. " Pyle & Ridgeway,bid; Cement roadway complete-. 25 sq-ft ; Sewer connections $3 .00 " The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt, being the lowest & within the estimate of city civil engineer, contract was so awarded. Thursday May 24th, 1928. 1 41. The Board received bids,under Improvement Resolution No . 8 7-1928 for the improvement of Maple Street, by constructing cement sidewalk 4' wide, curb & gutter,planting trees on both sides and grading & paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of pavements,viz: " J. The Board received bids,under Improvement Resolution No. 861-1928 for the .improvement of the alley between South 9th & 10th Street, by constructing cement roadway, from South -"A" Street, north to the 1st alley south of Main Street, running east & west, as follows : "• Daniel G. The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt, being the lowest & within the esti- mate, the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under the specifications for re-roofin_, the dwelling 618 North 10th Street, known as, "Starr Park dwelling" as follows, to-wit : - John Taylor & Russell McMinn, bid; Re-roofing complete -$319. 56, New box gutters ,400 ft . chimney-$15,00 " Clyde C. Nicholson, bid; . Re-roof ing-u325.00-; New box gut ters-3 50 ft . Flue- :$20. 00. " Arthur Thomas, bid; Re-roofing-$365. 00; New box utters-l5d ft . Flue- $3.00 1in-foot " C. W. Bundy, bid; Re-roofing- 369.43 ; New box gutters-80q ft . Flue- ?38.00 The bid of John Taylor & Russell McMinn, being the lowest and best bid, upon recommendation of Building Inspector, contract was so awarded.
