The Assessment committee met to -day at 5 P.L.to pass upon the assess-417' ssess- 2 merits for the ensueing _year, those present being Acting Mayor Harris, (- Councilmen Cann and Logan. Mr.C.J.Richards appeared before the committee and protested t "at the assessment on the improvements on lot 39 -a ward one were tod';he was shown that other property in this vicinity was assessed in the same proportion as his - -- after some discussion Mayor Harris asked him if he was agreeable to the assessment and he said that he would pay it. Town of Tybee,Ga.,April 14thY1925 The regular _meeting of Council was ,held . to -day at 4 P.M.and was attended by Mayor Harris,and Councilmen Farr,rogan,Horovitz,Walthour Cann,Mr Brennen and Mr Jos..P.Doyle of the Globe Dredging Co. Mayor Harris brought up matter of J.C.Slater et.al.in which they had petitioned Council to pave street at Lovell station deeded by them to the Town for use as a pub lick thorofare - -- it was turned over to the Streets and .Lanes _Committee for handling,Mr Horovitz said that the street was too 'narrow,Towm wanted 20 feet,aiso that if owners would furnish material Town would furnish labor to pave it. Mayor Harris also asked Mr Horovitz to see if it were possible to pave Stone street at Estill station. A letter from the Globe Dredging Co was read petitioning Council to assist in paving, certain streets in the "Fill " -- the Mayor asked Mr Doyle to enlighten Council as to what was wanted by the Globe Dred3in Co and Mr Doyle :said .,,_thatthe Globe Dredging Co would furnish the steel if the Town would furnish the labor to lay it -- the_ Mayor said that it would be a good thing_fofr Tybee - -- Mr mr`Q�naq. moftlon that the agreement of Globe Dredging Co be accepted - -- ?aation carried..; Alderman Cann did not 7cF=el a/c uein,. President of Tybee Beach Co. Mayor Harris called for election of new Councilman --- Mr Wa.lthour'` said that _ Mr 0.T.Bacon had asked for the support of ;,r Carl Espy and that he would nominate kr Espy to fill the unexpired term - -- ,t Mr Horovitz seconded the nomination - -- the Mayor called for a vote,: and it was given for Mr Espy unamously. Coulcilmen Cann and Logan `O!N', were appointed a committee to notify Mr Espy of his election. The Mayor called__ attention to the improvements the C.R.R.was making on its pavi liion. Apetition was had from Mr E.A.Armand and Mb J.H.Byington requesting permission to fence off part of streets adjacent to their cottages-- - Petition refused. A petition was read from some of the citizens of Tybee nominating, kr J..G.Bu.tler for Councilmen but it was noted teat he was ineligi- ble as he does not own any property in the Town A letter from airs R.A.Stratton wac read requesting that the Town donate a septic tank to the Trinity Methodist Chapel that is being, erected on 2nd avenue - -- Council authorize* that one tank be ,given the Chapel.
