HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 23-001 - Resolution directing Interim Manager to update City SealSponsored by: Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 23-001 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO REVISE THE CITY SEAL; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida ("City Commission") desires to adopt a new City seal; and WHEREAS, the City seal (sometimes called logo) refers the official city emblem or insignia typically used to stamp or emboss official city documents and place on the walls of City buildings; and WHEREAS, the Interim City Manager shall present three recommendations to the City Commission for consideration and all recommendations shall reflect the cloud being removed from behind from the current City seal; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka finds that it is in the best interest of the City and its residents to direct the Interim City Manager to take the necessary steps to revise the City's seal to enhance the City's image and brand. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. RECITALS ADOPTED. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. AUTHORIZATION The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby directs the Interim City Manager to take the necessary steps to revise the City's seal in an effort to enhance the City's image and brand. SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution may be authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney, without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk. Resolution No. 23-001 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFJcIENCY: SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee. PASSED and ADOPTED this nth day of January, 2023. Staff Summary: Financial Impact: It is estimated that the design for a new seal will not exceed $7,000. When the cost is established, it will be charged to Non -Department — Other Professional Services. Proposed Action: Staff will present three recommendations to the City Commission.
