The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday October 6th, 1927, at 9 o ' clock A. M. All the members. of said. Board Messrs, Reid, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceed- ings were had. Reading of Minutes of preceedine meeting dispensed with. The Board approved tiie contract & bond of Pyle & Ridgeway, cop-- tractors under Improvement Resolution No. 843-1927. Permission to cut the curb at 1005 South " I" Street was granted to Ed. J . Vogelsang. John Sanger, was granted permission to cut sidewalk & curb at Lot 5, Home Seekers, Addition. The Clerk was directed to advertise for bid for 2 automobiles for Police Department . The Board approved a primary assessment roll under Improvement Resolution No. 820-1527, for improvement of Boyer Street , from School to Stevens Street . The Board approved a primary assessment roll under Improvement Resolution N . 84l-1927, for Sanitary Sevier in the alley between Ratliff & Hunt Street, from Stevens Street to Lots 59 Fairview Heights, Addition. The Board met to hear remonstrances, - of 'per sons whose proper ty is primarily assessed in the matter of benefits & d_emaes for the opening and widening of South 5th Street, from South "Hu to " L" Street as provided under. Declaratory Resolution No. 210-1327. After hearing all .persons interested who appeared and carefully considering a remonstrance filed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Rail- way Company of Indiana, against the amount of benefits assessed their .property claiming they were not in anywise benefitted. The Board after consider some verbal remonstrances, overruled the said remonstrances, and thereupon approved a final assessment roll of benefits and damages on said opening and widening, confirming in all things. all former actions heretofore taken, and now direct said assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance, and declare said street opened from South "Hu to " I" Street and ti i y e n F d from South " I" to "L" Street . A petition was received, praying for an a.rc light in College Avenue, between Southwest " " a.nd "E" Street, Which as refer- D red to Superintendent of Light Plant for investigation and report. A coziJi nication was received from Black & Veatch Consulting En- gineers of Kansas City,Mo. , promising to forward the plans and specifications for the west side sewer system and disposal Works and outfall sewer, at the earliest time possible to complete tile same. Thursday October 'th, 1927. 6 The City Civil Engineer reported considerable just criticism, regarding the approaches onto the new concrete pavement on School Street from the various streets and alleys, criticising the way the approach has been made at Boyer and Crosshall Streets, having been :_jade with earth instead of gravel, which makes it very in- convient for people to get back & forth, and suggested the matter • be taken up with the County Engineer to determine the status of these approaches as it is improtant for the city and the citizens to have access to their homes . The Clerk and Engineer were in- structed to formulate a request to the County Engineer, tn. an effort to have these approached prowerly constructed. - The Street Com:nissionsr was instructed to gravel South "Qt' Street in places of holes in said street, and to repair the intersection at South 8th N Street with gravel & tar. The Board together with the Mayor, City Engineer and City Attorney held a conference with the Officials of the C. & 0. Ry. Company of Indiana, in matter of new bridge at South 9th Street crossing the ra.tlroad tracks. after going over the site of the bridge, it was suggested that our city engineer and the railways company engineer get together in an effort to wet a bridge plan and estimate of the cost, so we may be enabled to get a new structure started.
