Thursday September 29th, 1927,
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of said Board Thursday September 29th,
1927, at 9 o ' clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Reid,
McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
Minutes of preceeding meeting approved without reading.
The Board approved Maintenance Bond of W. L. . Magaw, contractor for
improvements under the Improvement Resolutions numbered as follows,
to-wit : 797-1926-, S.W." C" Street ; 810-192$', South "J" Street and
812-1926, South " I" Street, and order 5% be paid to contractors.
The Board a'onroved the contract & bond of Pyle & Ridgeway, contractor
under Improvement Resolution No. 8 -0-1927.
The' Board approved the contract & bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, con-
tractor under Improvement Resolution No. 846-1927.
The Board met to hear all persons whose property is prima rily assesses
under Improvement Resolution No. 825-1 27, providing for the improve-
ment of East Havne Ave. by constructing cement sidewalks on both
sides thereof, from Peacock to National Road. No one appearing or
remonstrating, the Board approved a final assessment roll confirm-
ing the original assessment roll heretofore approved and now direct
the sane be forthwith transmitted to_ the Department o± Finance.
The Board met to hear all persons whose property is primarily assess-
ed under Improvement Resolution No. 830-1927, for the improvement of
Ridge Street , by constructing cement curb & gutter on both sides and
paving the roadway with re-inforced concrete, from Charles to School
wtreet, No one appearing or remonstrating, the. Board approved a final
assessment roll confirming the original assessment roll as heretofore
approved and now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the
Department of Finance.
The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of contract under
Improvement Resolution No. 84171927, providing for a sanitary sewer
in the alley between , Ratliff & Hunt Street, from Stevens Street to
north lines of Lots 4 59 & 88, Fairview Heights, Addition. the same
was accepted and assessment roll ordered prepared.
The Board approved primary assessment rolls under Improvement reso-
lutions named as follows, to-wit :
Improvement' Resolution No. 810-192 r, for improvement of South "J" aux:
Street, from South 9th to 13th Street,
Improvement Resolution No. 512-192., for improvement of South " I"
Street, from South 9th to 13th Street,
Improvement Resolution No. 819-1927, for improvement of Southwest 10t]
Street, from west Main St . to National Road,
Improvement Resolution No. 836-1927, for improvement E: XXDA...X N of
Northwest 5th Street, by cement sidewalk, curb 8, gutter and surface
treated macadam roadway on east side of street, from Richmond Avenue
to Chestnut Street .

The Board direct the Street Commissioner to change certain stop
signs from center of street to center of right side of streets
as requested by Police Department .
The Clerk was directed to request the Police Commissioners to
prepare specifications for 2 automobiles requested by their
department .

Double Drum Hoist, at price submitted 5630. 00.
- Engineer was directed to order the plans and specifications from
Black & Veatch, for West side Sewer System as per contract and
letter received by the Mayor.
The Board order the down spout repaired or replaced by M. A.
Hawkes, in -City Building @ 4125.00
The Board received petition from W.G.Bate Sup ' t . , of Public Schools
for permission of Dennis High School ;_;iris, to use a part of- the
level space in West 7th Street- Park adjacent to the school proj.oer—
ty, for playing what is known as "Ground Ball" which will mean
two temporary goal posts. Per1ISslO7. POr use of said ground was
unanimously granted by the Board for the purposes mentioned.
- Claims in amount of 4'2 -90. 25 were allbwed.
The Clerk was directed to request City Attorney Kelley, to :report
what progress if any, has been made in matter of widening North
"A" Street, between North 5th & 7th Street .
On motion of Mr. Henley, the Clerk was directed to notify the
Ordinance Committee of Council, that the Board heartily favored
revising the Building Code Ordinance, as the present ordinance
is obs--lete in many respects. -
