HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-29-1927 Office of Board of Public Works 52 City of Richmond, Indiana, Monday August 29th, 1927. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office -of said Board Monday August 29th 1927, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Reid, McFail and Henley being present. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board approved the contract & bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, contractor under Improvement Resolution No.839-1927, to improve . the alley between South ; 2th & 13th Street , by cement roadway from South "B" to "C" Street . The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons interest- ed or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 843-1927. for the improvement of Hunt Street, by constructing cement sidewalks 6 ' wide, curb & gutter and paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of modern pavements ; to-wit : Re- inforced concrete, Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Bituminous Macadam, from School Street to the north Corporation limits of City, after hearing all persons who appeared and carefully con- . - sidering a petition signed by 18 p.roperty owners, praying that • • the sidewalks be made 5 ' wide and grass plot be had between the walk and curb and the roadway be paved the width as formerly • specified in resolutiong adopted therefore. The Board _decide that the resolution be amended as requested in petition filed, and decide that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as retorted by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon take action on said resolution, the same being unanimously confirmed as amended by reducing the sidewalk to a width of 5 feet instead of 6, and making grass plot between the walk & curb therby reducing the width of roadway,. A remonstrance against improvement of Hunt Street as provided in Improvement Resolution No, 843-1927, signed by C. C.Hudelson & 10 others was filed and on motion referred to City Civil Engineering Department for investigation and report . The Board received request from the Richmond Service Grocery Stores for permission to use North "A" Street from North llth to 12th Street for a Pure Food, Better Health and Industrial Exposition for one week Sept. 26th to Oct. let, inclusive. The Board unani- mously grant permission to use said street for purposes request- ed, with the understanding no stakes be driven in the grass plott: and every effort -be made to keep persons from walking on said plots . The Clerk was directed to again notify Municipal Traffic Post Co. to place post on north side of Pensy. Railroad at 8th Street if necessary granting them permission to move the post from North 16th & "A" Street to North 8th Street and the Railroad. Pyle---- 86. 22- Improvement Resolution No. 809-1926 Monday August 29th, 1927, 53 • Whereas, The contract as drawn by Black 8_ Veatch Consulting, Engine- ers in matter of plans etc. , for disposal plant , pumping station & sewer south of National Road leading to said plant not being\clear as to meaning of same. The City .Attorney was instructed to prepare the proper contracts to be submitted to said engineers Whereas, the old boiler in City Building is practically beyond re- pair, the Board requested to different Plumbing & Heating contract- ors to submit bids for furnishing and installing 16000 ft . cast Sec. steam boiler and removing the old boiler, the following bids were received, to-wit : " M. A. Hawkes, bid; Prox Boiler Rating 16000 S-60-16, installed complete-- 1980.00 " Stanley Plumbing & Electric Co. , bid; Prox Boiler Capacity 16000 ft .B-60-S-15 installed complete-$2088.00. W. H. Meerhoff, bid; S 40-25 Bernhardt side feed burner or S50-12 Burnham steam boiler complete for sum of $2232.00, " W. C. Bass & Sons, bid; American Radiator Co.Make S-48-13 rating 16500 complete $2247. 50. " Oesting Plumbing Co. , bid; American Water Tube boiler #s-4813-16500ft . cap. complete--y26?k2.06. American Smokeless- 2673 . 31; U. S.Smokeless-$2560.45;U. S,Heavy Duty ?2451. 25; Weil-iiicLain _square type-:{ 2580. 85. W.McL.Smokeless- 2615. 66 Weil-McLain Smokeless-$2736.86. The Board take all bids under advisement for investigation before award said contract . The Clerk was directed to request the Police Commissioner to have the patrolman lock the comfort station every night at 12 o 'clock and open same every morning at 6 A.M. • Upon complaint of Mr. Bowers, the Board promise they will look after the .condition of the alley between Ratliff & Hunt Street , the con- dition of which is reported impassable on account of sewer construct- ed therein.
