ENDORSEMENT OF THE INSTALLATION OF UNINTERRUPTIBLE
POWER SUPPLY SYSTEMS AND GENERATOR RECEPTACLES AT
COUNTY -OWNED OR- MAINTAINED TRAFFIC SIGNALS.
WHEREAS, the following intersections within the Borough of Carteret are either owned or
maintained by Middlesex County:
1. Roosevelt Avenue and Holmes Street /Washington Avenue
2. Roosevelt Avenue and Harrison Street/Drift Way
3. Roosevelt Avenue and Wedgewood Street
4. Roosevelt Avenue and Pekola Terrace /Frederick Street
5. Roosevelt Avenue and Blair Road
6. Washington Avenue and Cypress Street/Louis Street
WHEREAS, the Borough seeks to provide continuous and safe operation of traffic during power
outages;
WHEREAS, the Borough has requested the above intersections be investigated and upgraded by
Middlesex County to include uninterruptible power (battery backup) systems and generator
receptacles;
WHEREAS, Middlesex County has indicated in a letter dated September 14, 2017 to CME
Associates that the above intersections are being evaluated for the installation of battery backup
systems and generator receptacles;
WHEREAS, the Borough Council authorizes the Mayor and Borough Clerk to enter into any
agreements for the installation of these systems;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Borough of Carteret
formally endorses the above stated project to be implemented by Middlesex County.
