If the evaluation is feasible installation should follow. Staff Summary: There is a high volume of pedestrian traffic entering the Municipal Complex, either to conduct business with the City, to access the school on the second floor or to visit various departments. Due to limited parking at the Municipal Complex, nearly all of the foot traffic must cross one or more streets with much of it crossing Fisherman Street. To install a crosswalk, the City will have to request the County to conduct a traffic study to determine the type and appropriateness of a crosswalk on Fisherman Street, develop and obtain approval for a design consistent with the County guidance resulting from the traffic study, and then construct the crosswalk if approved. Financial Impact - The financial impact can't be determined until an assessment can be made of the design and construction requirements resulting from conducting a traffic study on Fisherman Street. Proposed Action: Staff recommends the City Commission approve the legislation directing the Interim City Manager to evaluate the installation of a crosswalk on Fisherman Street in proximity to the Municipal Complex and begin installation is feasible.
