HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-05-1927 Office of Board of Public Works, 30 City of Richmond, Indiana, TTuesday July 5th, 1927. _ The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Tuesday July 5th, 1927, at 9 o 'clock A. M. Messrs, McFail and Henley present, Absent Mr. Land. Two members of said Board being present. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board granted permission to Ernest D. Hause, to cut the__ urb at 1st house north of Main Street -on east side of Last Haven -Avenue. '^ A petition was received for the improvement of the alley between Crosshall & Boyer Street, by constructing cement roadway., from Grant to School Street, referred to Engineer. The Board sign contract for furnishing of lubrication oil, for use of M.E.L.& P.P. with Standard Oil Company. The Board granted contractor certificates to W. L. Magary, con- tractor under Resolution 510 , & 812-1926, in amounts of , 7114.12 & $3681.10. The Board diredted the Finance Department to nay 5% reserves to the following named contractors under Improvement Resolutions and amounts as follows, to-wit : " Z. B. Burkhardt, . contractor; Resolution No. 79 -1926, $69.16 18 " 794-1926 92.34 " - 795-1526 41.46 " " 796-1926 59.30 " 803-1926 21.9E " Connor, Bearly & Jinks, contractors; - Resolution No. 786-1926 $42.85 • ►1 �� 788-1926 78.67 Notice was received from Public Service Commission of Indiana that in matter of Indiana Gas Utilities Company -for authority to establish gas rates for industrial, com ercial and house heating purposes, reporting the rates submitted in the cause werecround to be a reduction, and the proceedings were discon- tinued and the matter dismissed. Pursuant to notice given to the inhabitants of the City of Rich- mond, Indiana, The Board of Public Works met to hear remonstrances . or objections if any, against the Contract and Agreement or Fran- chise, presented by the Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Eastern Trac- tion Company, for permission to construct, maintain and oper- ate an extension of its present street railway system in the said City of Richmond, along and over North 24th Street to the line, on and into Glen Miller Park, which extension shall consist of roadbed, ties, raijs, poles, cross arms, overhead wires, feeders and other overhead structures as shall be suitable for the oper- ation of cars over Said extension (See route) , as filed with the Board on Monday June 13th, 1927, o which date the Board fixed Tuesday July 5th, 10. o 'clock A.M. as a date and time at which ( see next page) Tuesday July 5th, 1927. 31 T.H.I. & E. Traction Co. , Glen Miller Park, cont 'd. , said Contract & Agreement will be finally considered publically at the office of said Board, and upon said contract & agreement being published and notices posted as by law required, by said The Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Company. ', The Board met to hear remonstrances or objections against said contract & agreement as aforesaid. No remonstrance having been filed and-no objections having-been entered against the same. Proof of -publication of said contract & agreement and heating in the Richmond Item and The Palladium and Sun-Telegram, and of the affidavits signed by Byram- C. Robbins, attorney, that notices had been posted in 10 public places in said City. The Board unanimously approved said contract & agreement, subject to the ratification of • same by the Common Council and approval of the Mayor of said City, and now direct that the ordinance be presented to the Common Coun- cil for their consideration and ratification. Claims in amount of $14,406.05 were allowed. The Board approved the various payrolls of City to June 16th, 1927. The Board then adjourned, Prest . of Board pro-tem. Attest : - v� Jerk of Board •
