HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-05-1927 Office of Board of Public Works, 7 City of Richmond., Indiana, - Thursday May 5th, 1927. - The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular .session at the office of said Board Thursday May 5th, 1927, at 9 _o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Land, McFail and Henley being present. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : _ The Clerk reported as to complaint of Councilman Benn, account of Gas Company having under-mined the sidewalks in National Road; also As to the contracts submitted by Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers in matter of making surveys etc. , for sewage systems and disposal plants for .city, which the Mayor had referred to theeBoa.rd, the Committee on Ordinances, etc. , and the Committee on "ewers, Streets and alleys,_ the Board referred the contracts to the City Attorney for investigation with the request that he report at Mondays meeting of the Board, the Board decide to investigate as to sidewalks in National Road complained of. A letter was received from Municipal Traffic Post Co. , of Portland, Indiana, stating they would re-place the post at Railroad and repaint and replace all bad sign in their posts the latter part of the coming week. The Board directed new awnings be placed were needed in city building, line Board granted the following contractors certificates to W. L. Magaw, as follows to-wit : Resolution No. 817 grading i .W. 6,th St . P . eegarden, No . 35----4742.46; -W.L.Magaw, Resolution No. 812-1926 Improvement of South " I" 9th to 13th Street----No.36-- ;;3973,83 The Clerk was directed to notify the T . H. I & E. Traction Co. , to extend their tracks for street car service in School Street, from Ridge to Hunt .Street and in Hunt Street, from School Street to north corporation line. The Board directed Sup 't. of Parks, to install; base ball diamond in • Rosevelt,- Field in Glen Miller Park. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 831-1927, for improvement of the alley between South 10th & llth Street, by cement roadway, from South " I" to "J" Street as follows, viz: " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; • Cement roadway complete $0.222C per so-foot . " Pyle & Ridgeway, bid; Cement roadway complete 0.2824 per so-foot The bid- of Daniel G. Burkhardt, being the lowest received and being within. fh.P -estimate of the City Civil Engineer, the • contract was on motion awarded to said Daniel G. Burkhardt . The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.830-1927, for the improvement of Ridge Street , by constructing cement curb & gutter on both sides of stfeet and grading & paving the -roadway with one of the following kinds of modern city pavements, to-wit : Re-inforced Concrete, Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Brick, from .
