HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-14-1927 : 7 4 Office of Board of 'Public Works City of Richmond Indiana, Thursday April l4-th, ,1927 The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana., met in regular session 's t the office of said Board -Thursday April l4th, 1927, at 9 o ' clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Land, McFail and Henley, being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board granted permission to the Dayton Real Estate Development • Co. , to blast out the stumps in South 22nd Street, from South"B" Street to the Reeveston Road. The Board approved the contracts and bonds of. the following named contractors under the improvement resolutions named as follows, viz : Daniel G.' Burkhardt, contractor under Improvement Resolution No.822-1927 • Pyle & Ridgeway, contractors under Improvement Resolutions, No 's. 823 and 824-1927. • • J. L. Teegarden, contractor under Improvement Resolution No. 825-1927. 4 Petition or protest signed by Kitty Henley & 17 other resident property owners located on Morton Lake, protesting against the opening of the flood gates at Morton Lake, same was placed on file. Permission was granted E. Swingle to. cut •the curb on East Haven Avenue, at Lot No. 9, C. T. Price, Addition. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons interested or whose property is affected under Declaratory Resolution No. 206-1927, for widening of Fort Wayne Ave, from North 5th Street . intersection to North "C" Street, the Engineer not. having any figures to present, hearing was continued to Thuxsaay April 21, 1927. The Board metto hear remonstrances and take action on Declaratory Resolution No. 205-1927, for the widening of School Street, from the first alley east of Boyer Street to the east line of the G. R. • & I. Railroad right-of-way. After hearing all persons inter- ested who appeared, no remonstrance having been filed against said widening. the Board being duly advised in the premises, take action on said resolution, the same being confirmed without modification And the Board now orders a list or roll be prepared of all owners or holders of property, and of valuable interests therein, sought to be taken or to be injuriously affected, which list or roll ' shall also describe the property beneficially affected. The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 830-1927, for the im- provement of Ridge Street, by constructing cement curb & gutter (lft .wide) on both sides of street and paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of modern city pavements, to-wit : Re- inforced Concrete, Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Brick, from Charles to School Street . After hearing all persons interested who appeared and no remonstrance having been filed against said improvements. The Board decide that the benefits to property li- able to, be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer less the amount the city will pay. City agrees to pay cost of street 8= alley in- . tersections and 100 of the cost of improvement, and thereupon confirm said resolution, without modification. .Thursday April 14th, 1927. 475 The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.826-1927, for the improvement of Southwest 1st Street, by construction of rolled stone foundation where needed, and re-surfacing the present roadway with one of the following kinds of materials; Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt, -Asphalatic concrete or Emulsified Asphaltic Concrete, from West Main Street to the National Road, as follows, to-wit : "_ The Stone Construction Company, bid; 5" rolled stone foundation (compacted) : 1. 20 per sq-yrd. Resurface over present foundation l " sur. 2" new rolled stone base, with Rock Asphalt 1. 65 sq-hard. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.827-1927, for the improvement of the National Road, by widening the roadway 2ft . on each side by re-setting the present stone curb, between SW. 2nd & 5th Street, constructing cement curb where necessary, grading and paving the roadway with one of the modern city pavements, to-wit ; Re-inforced Concrete, Sheet Asphalt , Rock Asphalt or Brick, from Southwest 1st to 5th Street, as follows to-wit : " The Andrews Asphalt Paving Co. , bid; Resetting stone curb 40.400 per lin-ft . . The Board now orders its preliminary order, designating that said National Road be paved with Re-Inforced Concrete. The Board approved a plat laid out by Jas. & Edith Dolan, known as Dolans, Addition, consisting of 21 town lots, numbered from 1 to 21 both inclusive, laying between East Haven Avenue and Northwest 17th Street , and north of _'Jest Main Street. The Board grant permission to Charles Sell to tap the sewer in alley first west of Northwest 8th Street between Peacock Road & Richmond Ave. , upon signing proper agreements and upon payment to the City, the price of $5.00 per tap or if one tap is made for two houses then the price to be paid $10.00. _The Clerk was directed to notify The Richmond Home Telephone Co. , to remove the pole at Southeast corner of Sheridan and Grant Sts. , The Clerk was directed to notify The International Harvester Co. , . to remove the "marquise" recently erected at their building in North 15th Street, between North "E" Street and the Railroad.
