HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-11-1927 47 Office of Board of Public Works City of Richmond, Indiana, Monday April llth, 1927. • The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday April llth, 1927, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Land, McFail and. Henley; being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit :- The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected- under Improvement Resolution No. 828-1927, for the construction of a sanitary sewer In the alley between North 16th & 17th Street, from the River to North "G" Street . After care- fully considering a remonstrance filed against said improvement, . The Board decide that the said sewer is a necessity and decide • that the benefits to-the proper ty.- liablef to beassessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the city civil engineer, and thereupon take final action, on said reso- lution, the same being confirmed without modification. The Board met to' hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 829-1927, for the improvement of the alley between South 6th & 7th Street, by con- structing cement roadway the full width thereof, from South "B" to "C" Street, A remonstrance signed by 19 resident property owner and hearing all persons interested who appeared, the Board re- ferred the remonstrance to the Engineering liepartment , and continued hearing on resolution to Monday April loth, 1927, 9 o 'clock A.M. The Board unanimously approved a primary assessment roll of bene- fits and damages under Declaratory Resolution No. 203-1927, for the opening of a 20 foot alley between Soutr5th & 6th Street, from South "A" Street , north to the second alley south of Main Street, and fix May 9th, 1927, 9 o 'clock A. M. as a date for re- monstrating against said benefits assessed and damages awarded. The Board awarded the contract for tearing down the old engine house at South 6th & "E" Streets; to Garfield Dixon, in the sum of $225.00, The Board direct the Clerk to notify O. A. 'Kemper, to remove the barn which extends into Grant Street on 'the south side of said • street between Sheridan and Butler Street , within ten days. The Board direct the Clerk to notify D. C. Hess- Sup 't . , of N.E. L. & P . P . to prepare a joint agreement for poles and lines in Grant Street, from Bridge Ave. to Ridge Street, and submit the same to Board for their approval. The Board received bid for Roadster fully equipt with truck • body & extra tire, tube and rim for use of Park Department as follows : " W. E. McWhinney Company, bid; One Ford Roadster with steel pick up body, equipped with electric lights & starter, r-ear view mirror spare tire & tube-4433 .20 The Board award contract to W.E.McWhinney Company, for said Roadster under the above bid as stated. Monday April llth, 1927. 473 The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 823-1927, for cement roadway in alley between North 6th & 7th Street, from North "A" to North "C" Street, as follows to-wit : " Pyle & Ridgeway, bid; Cement roadway complete 30. 23¢ per sq-foot " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; - - Cement roadway complete - $0. 260 per sq-foot . The bid of Pyle & Ridgeway, being the lowest and within the esti- mate of city engineer, contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 82-I-1927, for construction of cement sidewalks 6 ft . wide on west side of North 12th Street, from P. C. C.& St .L.R.R. Tracks to North "J" Street as follows to-wit . " Pyle and Ridgeway, bid; Cement sidewalk 6ft. wide complete $1. 2+.9; per tin-foot. rr Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; - Cement sidewalk 6ft. wide complete ? 1.40 per linear foot . The bid of Pyle & Ridgeway, being the lowest and within the estimate of city engineer, contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.825-1927, for construction of cement sidewalks 5ft. wide on both sides of East Haven Avenue, from Peacosk Road to National Road, as follows to-wit : " J. L. Tee-garden bid; _ Cement walks complete $1.35 per linear foot " Pyle & Ridgeway, bid; Cement sidewalks complete l.43 per lin-foot " John F. Hipskind, bid; Gement sidewalks complete 4 1. 59 per lin-fotht " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; Cement sidewalks complete $1. 68 per linear ft . The bid of J. L. Teegarden, being the lowest and being within the estimate of city civil engineer, the contract was so awarded. The Board approved the contract & bond of John F.- Hipskind, contract- or under Improvement Resolution No. 819-1927, for improvement of Southwest 10th St . from Main to National Road; Also, under Improve- ment Resolution No. 820-1927, for improvement of Boyer Street, from School to Stevens Street .
