HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - 11/6/1972��2 The Wellsburg Town Council met in special session on October 24, 1972, with Mayor Eckhoff presiding and all council members present. Purpose of the meeting was to discuss Federal Revenue Sharing funds. On a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Fairbanks, it was agreed not to amend the 1973 Proposed Budget and any money re- ceived through Federal Sharing is to be placed in a trust fund. Carried. There being no further business, the meeting ood adjourned. or t Clerk The Wellsburg Town Council met in special session on October 31, 1972, with Lester Huisman, Mayor pro tem presiding and all council members present. purpose of the meeting was to approve the appointment and to set the salary of Paul Siefken as Town Marshall and mainten- ance employee. On a motion by Hippen, seconded by Fairbanks, it was moved to approve the appointment of Siefken and to fix his salary at ��550.00 pex��'month. Carried. Lester Huisman adminstered the oath of office to Paul Siefken. Hollis Ryken, city engineer, met with the council to discuss the Proposed Curb & Gutter program for 1973" Approximately 16 blocks will be included in the program. The application for a Class C Beer Permit of Krull's Shelly Service was discussed and on a motion by Hippen, seconded by Van Deest, it was tabled until the regular November meeting. Carried. Minutes of the October meeting were read and approved on a motion b,y Van Deest, seconded b y Huisman. Carried. The treasurer's report for the months of September and October were accepted as read on a motion by Fairbanks, seconded by Heinrich. Carried. On a motion by Heinrich, seconded by Hippen, the following bills were allowed for payment: Aeilt Terfehn, net salary $382.27 Herman DeVries, net salary 127.82 . Henry J. Auditor, budget supplies for 3 yrs. 38.83 United Telephone Co., toll calls 2.00 Iowa Electric Light & Power, utilities 653.03 On a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Huisman, it was moved to allow Roy Covington $10.00 for removing the old fire whistle from the water tower. Carried. The written and signed agreement between the Town of Wellsburg and Melrose Township trustees for fire protection was approved on a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Huisman. Garried. Van Deest moved, Fairbanks seconded the hiring of Alfred Krull for employment as town maintenance and police duty beginning December 1, 1�72, at a salary of $550.00 per month. Garried. On a motion by Huisman, seconded by Van Deest, it was moved to allow the expense and tuition fee for Paul Siefken to attend a Sanitation Certification School at Clarion, Iowa, in March, 1973. Carried. The Water Main and Hydrant Easement permit from the Iowa State Highway Commission was approved on a motion by Hippen, seconded by Van Deest. Carried. It was moved by Fairbanks, seconded by Huisman to approve the request for a Class C Sher Permit by Aeilt Krull, d/b/a Krull Skelly Service. Roll call of votes; Ayes: Fairbanks, Huisman Nays: Hippen, Van Deest, Heinrich Absent: None Motion denied. Motion by Huisman, seconded by Heinrich for adjournment. Carried. t� �, � � May r Clerk The Wellsburg Town Council met in s cial session at 12:45 P.M. on November 15 with Mayor Eckhoff presiding and Councilmen Fairbanks, Van Deest, Huisman, and Heinrich present. Purpose of the meeting was to review proposed bids on a new truck for the town.
