HomeMy Public PortalAbout1986-09-22 Special Town Meeting STM — 9/22/86 Report of the SPECM TOWN MEETING September 22 , 1986 In accordance with the Warrant , the Special Town Meeting was held in the Brewster Elementary School Cafetorium , Monday , September 22 , 1986 . The meeting was called to order at 7 : 04 p . m . by the Moderator , Stephen L . Doyle . The tellers were Dorothy Grenier , June Gallant , Gladys Curtis , Doris Powell , Edward Sabatini , Edwin Blease and J . Ogden Tyldsley , Jr . Checkers were Dorothea Dugan , Carl Scrivener , Mary Tucker , Margo Cathie and Christopher Williams . A Quorum of 216 was present . The Warrant was read by the Moderator , Stephen L . Doyle , with the exception of the Articles which were read as they were being considered . ARTICLE 1 . 1 move the Town vote to increase the number of members of the Board of Selectmen from three to five members with the term of office to remain at three years ; to provide on the ballot at the Annual Town Election in 1987 for the election of one member of the Board of Selectmen for one year , one member for a term of two years and one member for a term of three years , and those members so elected shall be paid at a rate of $ 1 ,000 .00 per year for the balance of the fiscal year ending June 30 , 1987 ; said Board of Selectmen shall continue to serve as the Board of Assessors , as the Personnel Board and as the Department of Public Works . To see if the Town will vote to amend the first sentence of Section 25 — Longevity — of the Personnel By - Law to read as follows : " Permanent full -time employees will receive an annual payment after six ( 6 ) years of continuous employment of One Hundred Fifty and 00/ 100 ( $ 150 . 00 ) Dollars per year up to a maximum of dine Hundred and 00/ 100 ( $900 . 00 ) Dollars " and to raise and appropriate the sum of Seven Hundred and 00/ 100 ( $700 . 00 ) Dol - lars to fund any adjustment resulting from such change .
