WHEREAS outer space must remain free of any weapons . It should be preser
ved as an arena for non -threatening uses : peaceful cooperation , exploration , and
r scientific discovery among all nations ;
THEREFORE , it is the will of the people of Brewster , MA . that the president of

the United States be notified by the Town Clerk that we are not in favor of the
militarization of space and do not want any development testing and deploy
ment of the Strategic Defense Initiative ( SDI / "STAR WARS " ) . Copies of this
resolution will be sent to the U . S . Secretary of Defense , the Chairman of the
House and Senate Defense Appropriations Committees , and our Congressional
Delegation .
