Invitation was read from the Atlantic Cotton Association inviting the
Mayor and Aldermen to attend the convention to be held at Hotel Tybee
May 11 and 12th.Tne Clerk of Council was requested to notify the com-
mittee on arrangements the the invitation was accepted with thanks.
Mayor Harris informed Council that Adj.Gen.Cox and Col.Kimbrough had
been to Tybee to look over the camp site and were very much pleased at
the looks of things--- Gen Cox expressed himseld as not being in favor
of the concessionests making a charge for dancing for the troops while
ib camp,he said that the number of men coming would be about 2700.
Mr Cann suggested that in future Town Council meeting be held at Tybee
during the summer season --- it was decided to do this.
Mayor Harris suggested that a programme should be gotten up for the
opening day featuring a motorcade and other attractions, that the
event be made a big thing --- it was decided to call upon the various
civic bodies and ask their support in putting it over.
Mayor Harris said that he written Senator George expressing regret
at Colonel Sheldon being ordered away from Fort Screven.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call
of the Mayor.

A special meeting of Town Council was held to-day to pass upon the
question of Sunday dancing and other things,those present being the
Mayor,and Councilmen Horovitz,Logan,Cann,walthour,Farr,Espy and Town
attorney Mr Brennan.The meeting was held at 4 P.M.
The Mayor said that as the question of Sunday dancing had developed
into quite an important issue it was necessary that Council decide
on what action they would take cope with the situation.--- several
letters were read by t-eClerk from people,some of which wee opposed
to and some of which were in favor of Sunday dincing.
The mayor said that from his observations more people were in favor
of Sunday dancing than were against it,he quoted a NT$ 6 epe as hav-
ing said that Tybee was a disgrace to Georgia,he informed the lady
that she was mistaken as in his opinion Tybee was one one of the
finest places that Georgia could boast of.
The Mayor asked for the opinion of Cau-cil and Councilman Waltheur
made a motion that a questionaire be sent all property owners of
Tybee asking whether they want Sunday dancing or not --- to be
reported back toCouncil within 10 days --- motion ca..ried.
Councilman Cann said that in his opinion the greatest danger of
Funday dancing to Tybee was its bad effect on the interior of Geo-
gia,Savannah had a bad reputation in Georgia now,it may keep peo-
ple away from Tybee, and also that when fanatics get busy on any-
thing they usually push their cause to the end.--- he did not think it
good policy to have it,he personally was not against it anymore
than against any other form of recreation.
The mayor said he stop -unda until council passed upon it.

Councilman Parr said it was impossible to reg alate themorals of People
said that the ministers should set an example for the rest of their

Councilman Walthour said that Sunday d ;ncing webs b ing done from Maine
vois 1* to Florida.
The Mayor mentioned that theC.R..f. intended tearing down the p ergola
in front of Hotel Tybee this year.
The question electric service was brought up as regards Durden - Powers
the Mayor said he thought that P> 300.00 per month was reasonable to
charge them for service.

Councilman Cann said that the Town had assessed taxes against the
Hotel Co., for the Power plant and that he did not think it fair to
exact a tax fee this as. the Town was operatic it - -- matter was re-
ferred to assessment committee.
A letter was read from the C.R.R.requesting permission to operate
motion pictures on Sundays, - -- it watt deti4ed to have the property
owners of Tybee pass upon this also.
A letter was read from the Fresh Air: Home requesting free lighting
service tor the home - -- Councilman Cann made motion that this ser-
vice be given them - -- motion carti ed.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the
call of the call of the Mayor.

The regular monthly meeting of Town Council was held to -day at 4 P.M.
those present being the Mayor and Councilmen lspy,Far.r,Horovitz
Mr Brennan.
The Mayor brou -ytt up the question of Sunday dancing and asked for an
expression of opinion from Council - -- Mr Farr said that personally
he would vote against it but that the wishes of the people would be
carried out,said that the impression seemed to be that it would affect
other parts of Georgia. --- fir Espj, said that he was against Sunday
dancing but he would carry out wished, of property owners,--- Mr Hor-
ovitz said that dancing of right order should be insisted upon at all
times.
A quorum was present and the Mayor said that he could call for a vote
but Mr Farr said that he thought it would be a better plan to have all
of the Comtncilmen pass upon it.
Mayor Harris and Mr Hann said that after giving he matter serious
condideration and having the expressions of 219 property owners out of
Aft 268 questi onaires sent out - -- 130 of whom were in favor of dancing and
my 89 against - -- they could see no reason to legislate against it ---
Messrs Espy, Farr,Horovitz said that they were agteeable to the Mayor.
Mr Farr said that there was no state law against it so Council could
regulate it as it saw fit to do so.
The Mayor informed Council that had written a letter to Mr P.G.Pierpont
requesting that the WaterCarnival be post oned to a date, late than July
