Monday August 2nd, 1926."
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday August 2nd,
1926, at 9. o 'clock A. M. All the members -of said Board Messrs, Rand,
McFail and Henley being present. The following proceedings were
had, to-wit :
The Board received report of Indiana Inspection Bureau, on the result
of the testa made of Ahrens-Fox Fire Engine, to be purchased by
the City of Richmond, Indiana, as of date of July 29th, 1926.
The Board accepted and certified .as of date of July 29th, 1926.
One Ahrens-Fox Triple Combination Automobile Pummp$ng Engine, Hose
Car, Bposter equipped Model N-S--I- registered #1670 has been de-
livered and found satisfactory.
The Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action on De-
claratory Resolution No. 199-1926, for the widening of North "A"
Street five (5 ' ) feet, on the north side thereof, from the east
line of North 6th Street to the alley east; also, from the east
line of North 5th Street to the east line of Lot No. 23, J . Cox,
Addition in- the City of Richmond, Indiana, by the condemnation and
appropriation of sufficient lota 'and lands for such widening, speci-
fically described as follows, to-wit : Beginning at the S.W.Corner
of Lot --7,Jeremiah Cox,Addit ion, on the east side of North 6th St .
thence north along east line of North 6th Street five feet; thence
east parallel with the present north line of North "A" Street, to
the alley east; thence south along west line of said alley five feet
to the north line of North "A" Street; thence west along present
line of North "A" Street to- the place of the beginning; ALSO: Begin-
ning at S.W. corner of Lot . 23,Jeremiah .Cox,- Addition, - on east side

thence south along said east line five feet to present line of said
North "A" Street ; thence west along the present line of North "A"
' Street to the place of the beginning. Messrs, H. U. Johnson, Clar-
ence Brown, Attorneys, for several property owners, appeared before
the Board, entering a verbal objection to said widening. No remon-
strance being filed with the Board against said proposed widening,
thereupon,being fully advised in the matter, the Board takes final
action on said resolution, confirming, without modification, all
. former action taken on the same. And the Board now orders that a
list or roll be prepared of all owners or holders of property, and
• of valuable interests therein, sought to be taken or to be injurious-
affected; which list or roll shall also describe the property bene-
ficially affected.

The Clerk was instructed to notify the T .H. I.& E. Traction Co. , to
repair the floor in the Doran Bridge along their street car tracks
or right-of-way, and notify the Engineer and Street Commissioner
when ready to begin with such repairs .
The Fire Chief E.E.Miller, reported a vacancy in colored fire depart-
ment at No. 4 hose house, by Lewis Scott , fireman having left the
company and city, without leave of absence.
Monday August 2nd, 1926.
The City Civil Engineer, reported the completion of the fol-
lowing contracts under Improvement Resolutions named viz :
Improvement Resolution No.788-1926, for cement sidewalks on
south side of West ?'lain Street, from Southwest 8th to llth
Street. Connor, Bearly & Jinks, contractors.
Improvement Resolution No. 789-1926, for cement sidewalks on
both sides of Richmond Avenue, from Sheridan to. West „5th St .
except where already laid in cement . Z.B.Pyle & Co. contractors.
The Board accepted the same and order assessment roll pre-
pared.
The Board directed the Clerk to prepare an ordinance request-
ing an additional appropriation of �500.00 for remodeling of
Noo 5 hose house, to be paid by city bond issue .
The Building Inspector, Fire Chief and Architect Paul Werking
reported that after carefully examining the proposals of
Juerling & Son and Arthur Thomas for the remodeling the No.
5 hose house, after making all additions and deductions, they
find them as follows, to-wit :
" Arthur Thomas, bid; $9, 7 9 75
" Juerling & Son, bid $10, 241.25.
The Board on motion award the contract to Arthur Thomas be-
ing the lowest and best bid received.
The Board approved the various payrolls to August 1st, 1926.
The Appriasers appointed by Judge Hoelsher of the Wayne Circuit
Court made return and fix the value of The Old Robinson Fire
Truck ® $150.00 Buick Cope- 42 .00 and International Truck
at $250.00. .
The Clerk was .directed to notify Geo. A. Manning of -1720 Court
Street, Saginaw, Mich, west side, to trim the hedge in rear
of his property Lot 1, Highland, Terrace, Addition.
The Board then adjourned,
