Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday: July 1st, 1926, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, . Messrs, , Land, McFall and Henley being present.. The following proceedings were had, to-wit :- . The Board grant permission to John Nocton, to move his present curb gasoline &roil pumps, from No. 451, South 5th Street to No 's, 433-435 I/ South 5th Street, and direct said Nocton to have his bonding company change. said location on his bond filed with the city, The Board received notice of order of Public Service Commission of Indiana, increasing telephone rates 100, 25¢ & 430 per month. The Street Commissioner reported he and one of his men had inspected the Doran Bridge, and that the bridge was not in need of painting at this time, other than the hand rails above the floor, clerk was directed to notify the common council of, said report. • The Clerk was directed to request Dr. Schillinger Secy, of Board of Public. Health, to cause the Crematory to -be cleaned especially to have garbage bins scrubbed; • The Building Inspector, was requested- that whenever a_ permit for tearing down' or re-building of property on corners is . received by him, to report the same to the Board,. that . they 'may if necessary take proper precaution to have said corners widened; also to not issue' permits for buildings west of South 5th Street north of "L" Street, on account of lay of. ground. The Engineer was directed to prepare Resolution and plans for widen- . ing of South 9th Street, from South "L" Street south to corporate limits, of city, The Board again take up the bids for legal advertising heretofore re- ceived, there being. a controversy as to which newspaper is the lowest & best bidder, the Board directed the. Clerk to request Messrs, . D. S. Coe, Raymond Nicholson and Frank Howells to act as committee to investigate and report to the Board as to their findings in the matter, committee -selected by the City, Item and Palladium as above mentioned. - The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 197-1926, To vacate Crosshall Street; Green Street and alley between said • Streets running from Grant Street south. The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 198-1926, To Widen Grant Street (5feet) on each side thereof, from Sheridan to Ridge Street . • The Board thru the M.E.L. & P.P. enter into contract with Standard Oil Company, for Lubricating oils for use at said plant The Board accept the proposition of The American Band of Greenville, Ohio, for three concerts to be held• at Glen Miller Park July 18, Aug. 1, & 15, 1926, at price of $100.00 each. 3E3E3 Thursday July 1st, 1926. The Board received- bids under Improvement Resolution No. 802-1926, for improvement of Main Street, Joy by constructing cement curbs on both sides where needed, from 4th to 5th Street, as follows to-wit : " Z. B. Pyle & Co. , bid; Straight cement curb--$2..00, Circle cement curb-- $2.00 lin-ft. This being the only bid received and being above the estimate of the City Civil Engineer. The Z. B. Pyle & Co. agreed to do the work at the estimate of the CityCivil Engineer 1. 50 per lin-ft. the contract was so awarded, ® $1.50 per linear foot . The Board. received bids under Improvement Resolution No.805-1926, for improvement of South "F" Street, by constructing cement side- walks 5' wide on both sides thereof, from South 9th to llth Street as follows, to-wit : " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid; Cement sidewalk 5' wide $0.20 per square foot " Z. B. Pyle & Co. , bid; Cement- sidewalk $0.22 per square foot . The bid- of Daniel G. Burkhardt being the lowest & within the ` estimate of City Civil Engineer, 'contract was so awarded The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 806-1926, to improve the alley between North 10th & llth Street, by con- structing cement roadway from North "B" to " 0" Street , as follows : Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid,' Cement roadway complete $0.1911 per square foot . " Z. B. Pyle and Co. , bid; Cement roadway complete $0.23¢ per square foot . The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt being the lowest & within the estimate of city civil engineer, contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 807-1926 • to construct a Sanitary Sewer in the alley between South 8th & 9th Street, from South "M"Street to the Right-of-way C. & 0. Railroad, as follows, to-wit :- " E. . A. viariani & Co. , bid; Sewer complete $3 .34 per linear foot " Z. B. Pyle & Co. , bid; Sewer complete $3.79 per linear foot " John F. Hipskind, bid; Sewer complete $3.80 per linear foot " N. M. Brown, bid; - Sewer complete $4.85 per linear foot . The bid of E. A. 1''lariani & Co. , being the lowest received and being within the estimate of the City Civil Engineer, the contract was on motion awarded to E. A. Mariani & Co. , The Board received bids, for Triple Combination 750 gallon per, minute pumping engine for fire department as follows, to-wit : " 0benchain-Boyer Co. , bid; One Triple Combination fire truck, 750 gal. per minute capacity with extra equipment as per specifications $10, 750.00 Richmond. " Stutz Fire Engine Company, bid; One Stutz Standard Model "C-S" , Combination Pumping Engine, Booster • Equipment & Hose Motor Car, cap. 750 gal. minute-¢1, 100.00,Richmond. Same type as above with Chemical Tank $12, 500.00 " " " The Seagrave Corporation, bid; One model 760 Triple Combination Pumping Engine, Chemical or Booster and hose car $12, 500.00 f.o.b .Richmond. " The Ahrens-Fox Fire Engine Company, bid; 1/ One Ahrens-Fox Latest improved Triple Combination Automobile Tunpkng Engine 750 gal per min. $12, 700.00 f. o .b Richmond, Indiana, with 2% discount allowed if payment is made upon delivery and accep- tance of Engine. All bid with specifications were referred to Chief of Fire Depart- ment for investigation and report .
