Thursday May 27th, 1926.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 27th,
1926, at 9 o 'clock P. M. All the members of said Board,Messrs,
Land, McFail and Henley being present. The following proceedings
were had, to-wit:-
I/ Pursuant to continuance to this date. the Board met to hear the
remonstrance as heretofore filed in matter of Widening of South
9th Street on the east side thereof, from South "L" to "Q" Street
under eclaratory Resolution No. 194-1926. After having again
gone over the ground, and carefully considering the remonstrance
heretofore filed against the benefits assessed and damages awarded.
On motion the Board rescinded all action heretofore taken in the
matter ., and thereupon rescinded said resolution.
The Board- uananiiously adopted Improvement Resolution No.808-1926,
to improve the alley between South 7th & 8th Street, by constructing
cement roadway the full width thereof, from South "H" to "J" Street.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 809-1926,
to Improve the alley between South 14th & 15th Street, by construct-
ing cement roadway from South "A" to "B" Street .
The Board unananimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 196-1926
for the condemnation of a 20 foot right of way for sewer between
Linden Avenue and the P. 0. C. & St.L. Railway, beginning at the
terminous of the present alley between Linden Ave. and Charles St.
at the east line of Lot 6, Poe & Lyndes, Out-Lots; thence in a west-
erly direction across said Lot 6, P. & L. Out-Lots and Lot No. 18,
Knollenberg & Kempers,Addition; to the east terminous of the alley
in the rear of Lot No. 14, Knollenberg & Kempers, Addition.
The Board approved the bondof 'ayton-Dowd Company, contractors for
furnishing the pumps for M.E.L.&. P.P. Spray Pond.
The Board entered into contract with the Ohio Valley Rock Asphalt
Co. , for furnishing to the City 400 tons more or less Rock Asphalt
at price of. $12.30per ton f.o.b. Richmond, Indiana.
The Board received bids for the removal or disposal of garbage, from
the City Crematory bins as follows, to-wit :
Paul F. Druly, bid;
To remove said garbage for $1250.00 per year, to June 1, 1930.
A legal question having arisen in matter of removal of said gazhz
garbage, the Clerk was directed to correspond with said Druley,
requesting him to continue to remove said garbage until September
1st, 1926, under the present contract held by the Druley Heirs,
until such time when the question can be settled.
The Board approved a letter written to The Public Service Commission
also, to State Board of Accounts, requesting written privile e for
City to furnish free electric current for Wayne County Fair zIssn. ,

The Board received letter from the Mack-International Motor
Truck Corporation of Indianapolis, Indiana, as to their Street
cleaning trucks. The Clerk was directed to notify said Company
the city was not in the market for any such equipment at this
time.
The Board received the return of petitions filed i r,theM;-1,..wzth
Richmond City Water Works, advising the Board that according to
the new schedule of charges established by the Public Service
Commission, all distribution and transmission lines are subject
to the schedule as a basis for the proportion payable by the
City on the investment of the Company. It is our opinion, therefore,
that all petitions for extensions of water mains should be con-
. sidered and decided by the Board, as the revenue from private
consumers does not govern the matter of extensions, stating that
the decisions rest with the Board regarding fire protection as
well as service to private consumers. Therefore we are return-
ing .the petition attached to your letter of the 20th, for ex-
tension of water mains on New Paris Pike and Railroad Street.
The Clerk was directed to notify the petitioners for water
mains in Railroad Street, that the City could not afford any
relief at this time.
11Richmond City Water Works,- advised the Board of completion of
6 extension of. South " 0" Street extending from South 9th Street
with hydrant at northwest corner of South 9th & " 0" Streets.
water turned on on the 25th, length of same being 121 feet .
Claims in amount of $ 14,317.22 were allowed.
The Board then adjourned,
