Thursday May 13th, 1926.
• The _Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 13th
1526, at 9 o ' clock A. M. The following members . of the Board, being
• , present, viz: Messrs, • McFail and Henley, Absent , Mr. Land. TWO
members of said Board being present . The following proceedings
were had, to-wit i
•
A petition for sidewalk on both sides of South "5' Street, from
South 9th to llth Street , was received and referred to Engineer
for investigation and report .
•
Pursuant to request, the Board held a meeting with Messrs, Hampton
_ and Jackson, two members of Board of Wayne County Commissioners,
in matter of condition of retaining walls at east end of Main. Stret.
Bridge, the same being shoved out and causing the roadway and side-
walks to settle, in fact these walls being considered dangerous by
the Board of Public Works, due to the fact that the same have not
been anchored or tied in any manner to prevent them from being
pushed out of plum; also, to condition of bridge in Happy Hollow
the Board of Works having had the north or west bridge repaired;
but they reported the south or east bridge beyond repair, and. they
have caused said bridge to be closed to traffic, it being consider-
ed by them as dangerous even. for foot traffic. The two members of
Board of Commissioners stated they would investigate the conditions
of bridges and walls as reported, and would make a report, as to
what the County would or could do, to remedy the same.
The Board approved the contract & bond of Z. B . Pyle and Co. , con-
tractors under Improvement Resolution No. 78 5-1926, for construct-
ion of cement sidewalks in Richmond Avenue, from Doran Bridge to
West 5th Street.
The following recommendations were received as follows, to-wit :

• In connection with the bids opened Monday or}' spray pond
construction and equip%n-ent, I 'vvi's.hJto respectfully make the follow-
ing recommendations: .
I recommend that the partnership of Connor,
Bearly & Jin'ks of Connersville,be awarded the contract for building .
the concrete structure complete for the sum ' of $22, 500.00. I base
this recommendation on the fact that they were lowest b,idders, and
upon investigation I find that they are financially able to carry a
job of this character, that they have the equipment to do the work
and while they have, not had experience in building this class of work
they have a great deal of experience in concrete work on streets, al-
leys, curbs, c-utters, etc. , . and I see no reason why they can not give
. us a good .and complete job.
I wish to recommend that Irvin C. DeHaven Engineerin Co . , of Indi-
anapolis be awarded the contract for the 1,000 gallon per minute
pump, also the 200 gallon per minute pump. The 1, 000 gallon per min,
Dayton Dowd Double Construction Centrifugal Pump in the amount of
)--39.00 and 200 gallon ditto 4 224.00. The above amounts are subject -
to 25) discount on payment in ten days .'We, of course,will arrange to
take advantage of this discount . I base this recommendation on the
fact that they are the low bidders on both pumps and that I find. that
