The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday March l8th, 1926, at 9 o 'click A.. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs,- Land, McFail and Henley being present The :following proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 793-1926, for the improvement of the alley between South 7th & 8th Street, by con- structing a cement roadway from South "G19 to "H" Street. No x n remonstrance having been filed against the improvement . The Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer and thereupon confirm the resolution without modification,- The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property -is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 794-1926, for improve- ment of the alley between South llth & 12th Street, b'y construct- ing a cement roadway, from 1st alley south of Main Street to South "A" Street . after hearing all persons interested who appeared & • carefully consideraing a remonstrance filed against said improve- ment, the Board ascertained from the Engineering Department that there are 20 resident owners residing along the line of said im- provement, 7 of whom have signed the remonstrance, there not being a majority of remonstrators, the overruled the remonstrance, and decide that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer and thereupon totfirm said resolution without modification. ' The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No.- 795-1926, for the im- p• rovement of the alley between South 9th & 10th Street, by con- structing a cement roadway, from South TES to 1°F" Street. after hearing all persons interested who appeared Dr. J . E. Hiatt .a resident property owner stated he had no objections to the improve- ment being made, bald he did think a mistake was being made by not widening the alley the same now being 12 ° wide, thee being a large' remonstrance filed against widening the alley, the Board decide that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvement at the present width of the alley, are equal to the cost of improvements as reported by the City Civil Engineer and thereupon take final action, the resolution being confirmed without modification, 1/ . The Board approved a primary assessment roll under Improvement Resolutions No 's. 78g-781 & 783-1925, for improvement of South 6th Street, from Main to South "A" Street ; main Street, from Main Street Bridge to East 3rd Street, and South 5th Street, from Main to South "A" Street, by constructing, erecting, installing and operating a system of street lights and posts on both sides of said streets, between the points named. Thursday March l8th, 1926. 32' The Board met _to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons pri- . `marily assessed under Improvement Resolution No, 702-1925, fco the construction of a Sanitary Sewer, in the first alley west of South 9th Street, from South "H" Street trunk sewer to South - "L" Street , no one appearing and no remonstrance having been filed the Board approved a final assessment roll, and now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance. The Board received bids for "Auto Chassis" and material & labor I/ ' in connection with mounting old body from the present Engineers Automobile to the new chassis less amount allowed for old chassis, as follows, viz: " W. E. McWhinney Company, bid; r, Ford Chassis Model T Starter & Dem Rims -------- e350.00 Transfer body from old chassis to new paint body and rear fenders. letter body "City Engineer" on both sides 35.00 Transfer snubbers from old to new -- 1 .50 Transfer speedometer from old to new send to Zero & oil 8.00 2 Ford Touring car front cushions to fit old body---- 12.00 Total u-09, 50 Allowance for 1922 Ford Chassis, Starter & Dem.R, 50.00 • Difference to be paid $359,50 The Board upon recommendation of Engineer award contract to above W. E. McWhinney Company. The Board ordered Richmond City Water Works-, to place fire hydrant at Southwest 5th & "D" Streets; also, after conference with Dr.Ross . from Insane Hospital, the Board order that a 12" water main be laid in East Haven Ave. from Peacock Road to Railroad instead of S" main heretofore ordered, the Eastern Indiana Hospital for the Insane, to pay the difference between thee" and 12 ' main. The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for new adding machine and allowance for old machine if any. The Board issue contractors certificate in sum of $395. 25, under . Improvement Resolution No. 764-1925, trees in Reeveston Road. The resolution for improvement of South 23rd Street & Wernle Road under 3-mile road law, referred to Board from Council, was taken up and discussed with attorney for petitioners, and laid on table for further investigation and report .
