Thursday February 4th,1926.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday February
4th, 1926, at 9 o 'cllck A. M. All• the members of said Board,
Messrs, Land, McFail and-Henley being present. The following
proceedings were had, to-wit: -
Upon the recommendation of the Board of Public Health, The Board
appoint Christopher A. Keen Sanitary- Inspector for the-um-expired
term of W. W. Keen, deceased.

Complaints from Councilman Benn, in matter of widening intersec-
tion at SW. corner of West 5th & Main Street, was referred to
Engineer for investigation and report. also, request for light
' at north end of Crosshall Street by Councilman Schiagle, was
referred to Sup't. , of Light Plant for investigation & report.
The Board enter into. contragt & agreement by and between the M.
E. L. & P.P. and Charles McLaughlin called the customer, where-
by the M.E.L.& P.P. agrees, to construct & maintain a 2300 volt
single phase line from the end of its line 'on National Road-west
Richmond, in Salisbury Road to the above customer, said customer
to pay to said plant the sum of $64.00 (See agreement ) .
The Board approved Resolution as passed by- the Common Council in '
matter of improvring School Street under Three-Mile Road Law.
Pursuant to notice given to the inhabitants of the- City of Rich-
mond, Indiana. The Board of Public Works met to hear remonstrances
or objections if any, against the Contract and Agreement presen-
ted by Sam Jaffe doing business in said City, for permission to
construct and maintain a railroad track to connect with the Penn- -
sylvania Railroad lines for switching purposes only over and
across North 10th Street lying north of the mainlines of said
Railroad Company and south of Pool Street which section of said
Street abuts on the property of the said Jaffe lying to the west
thereof and the property of the Pennsylvania Railroad lying tq
the east thereof, as filed with the Board on Monday January lath - `
1926„ on which date the Board fixed Thursday February 4th, 1926
at 9 o 'cldIck A. M. as a date and time at which said Contract and
Agreement will be finally considered publically at the office of
said Board, and upon said contract & agreement being published
and notices pasted as by law required, by the said Sam Jaffe.
The Board met to hear remonstrances or objections against said
contract & agreement as aforesaid. No remonstrance having been
filed and no objections having been entered against same. Proof
of publication of said contract & agreement and hearing in the
Richmond Item and the �'alladium and Sun-Telegram, and the affi-
davits signed by - Sam Jaffe, that notices had been posted in 10
public places in said City. The Board unanimously approved said
Contract & Agreement, subject to the ratification of same by the -
Common Council and approval of the Mayor of said City, and now
direct an ordinance be prepared and presented to the Common
Council for their consideration and rat if icat ion.

Monday February 1st, 1926.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday February
1st, 1926, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs,
Land, McFail and Henley being present. The following proceedings
were had, to-fit :
The Board received and accepted the grant of John M. Emery and
Edith .J. Emery his wife, dedicating to the City of Richmond, Indiana
for use of a public street, being part of Tract No. 223 of the Of-
ficial Map, of the City of Richmond, as shown on blue print, with
the understanding that the owners thereof shall not be molested in
the possession and use of said ground dedicated until said street
is improved as a public street.
The communication received from Richmond City Water Works relative
to the advisability of abolishing or modifying the policy of re-
quiring additional pressure for fire purposes, on account of the
-possible dangers of blowing or bursting of water mains, which was
referred to Fire Chief E. E. Miller for investigation and- report.
Mr. Miller presented or referred the communication back to the
Board, stating that he would not recommend abolishing the require-
ments for additional fire pressure service. The Clerk was directed
to request Mr. H. A. Dill Sup 't . , Water Works to meet with the Board
Thursday Feb. 4th, 1926.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare an ordinance appropriating the
sum of $360.00 from the General Fund of the City, to the Department
of Engineering, for the purchase of a new Chassis for said depart-
ment.

Thursday February 4th, 1926.
A delegation of Truckmen headed by Elmer Ford, appeared the
Board requesting that Traffic Light Systems be placed at North
"A" & 8th Street, also, at South "A" & Sth Street; also that
something be done to widen the street at the west end of Doran
Bridge at Sheridan Street and Richmond Avenue; also, requested
that Pennsylvania Railroad Company be instructed to repair the
railroad crossings at North 6th, 12th & 13th Streets, the Board
take all the above under advisement.
Permission was granted the T.H. I. & E. Traction Company and
C. M. Fletcher, to haul three car loads of lime over the South
8th Street, Street car lines, in construction of new school
building in south end, cars to be hauled over said line in the
evening.
In the matter of allowing the Reid Memorial Hospital the use of
ground known as the City s gravel pit as recommended by the Com-
mon Council. The Board decide to make further investigations
before entering into agreement with Hospital authorities.
Claims in amount of 421,886. 67 were all wed.
The Board approved the various payrolls to Feb. lst, 1926.

Monday February 8th, 1926.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday February
8th, 1926, at 9 o °clock A. M. All the members of said Board,
Messrs, Land, McFail and Henley being present. The following pro-
ceedings were had, to-wit :
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 788-1926
to improve West Main Street, by constructing a cement sidewalk &
planting of trees on the south side thereof, from Southwest 8th
to llth Street. I/
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 789-1926
to improve Richmond Avenue, by constructing cement sidewalks 61 •
wide on both sides of street, except where cement sidewalk in good
condition already exists, from Doman Bridge to West 5th Street.
The Board upon recommendation of Mr. Hess, order electric light
at Crosshall and School Streets.
The Board issue Contractors Certificate No. 18, in sum of $3500.00
in favor of "Carter Electric Co."- contractors under Improvement
Resolution No, 780-781 & 783-1925, for ornamental lights on
Main , South 5th & 6th Streets.
The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for construction of
sanitary sewers under Improvement Resolution No. 784-1925 and
7S7-1926.
The Clerk was directed to forward statement of erroneus charges
in sum of $91.00 collected by Richmond City Water Works from the
City v : for Water Meter rent, from Aug. 1923 to Feb. 1926.
The Board selected Turner W. Hadley to assid in appraising cer-
tain property to be condemned in street openings, widenings, etc. ,
in place of J.F.Da..venport, resigned.
Claims in sum of $14-, 534.33 were allowed & ordered paid.
The Board then adjourned,
