AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF IONA TO REPRESENT THE RESIDENTS OF THE VILLAGE OF
IONA, BONNEVILLE COUNTY, STATE OF IDAHO, IN SIGNING THE PETITION FOR
THE ENLARGEMENT OF FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT NO. 1 OF IDAHO, PROVIDING
FOR. ITS PUBLICATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Village of Iona, Bonneville County, State of
Idaho, has been flooded, and, or, -subject to a flood threat, from
waters which has resulted, or may result, in material and sub-
stantial damage iMMOMMIND to land, homes, personal property, public
roads, bridges and public utilities, as well as threat to the life
of its residents; and,
WHEREAS, a petition for the enlargement of Flood Control
District No. 1 of Idaho, has been prepared for the exteneion of
the existing District to establish and maintain a local entity
under the provisions of Idaho Code, Title 42, Chapter 31, to control
said flood waters for the purposes of the protection of life
and property, the preservation of the public health and welfare,
and to conserve and develop the natural resources.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND THIS BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF IONA, BONNEVILLE COUNTY, IDAHO:
SECTION 1. That the Village Board of the Village of Iona,
Bonneville County, Idaho, be and they hereby are, permitted to re-
present the residents of the Village of Iona, in signing the
"Petition for the Enlargement of Flood Control District No. 1 of
Idaho."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect upon its approval, adoption and passage and upon
its publication in one issue of The Post Register, a newspaper having
general circulation in the Village of Iona, Idaho.
SECTION 3. An emergency existing therefor by reason of the
fact that said flood waters, and, or, threat of flood waters
threatens life and property, and the public health and welfare,
this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
PASSED by the Village Board on the � day of April, 1962.
LEADING of the Ordinance on three different days waived
by three -fourths of the trustees dispensing with such reading on
the day of April, 1962.
APPROVED by the Chairman of the Board, Village of Iona:, Idaho,
on the day of April, 1962.
