HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-10-1925 Office of Board of Public Works , 295 City of Richmond , Indiana, Thursday December 10th, 1925. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in: regular session at the office of said Board Thursday December 10th, 1925 , at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board. , Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley being present . The following pro- ceedings were had, to -wit : - A petition for the improvement of Southwest 5th Street , by con- structing cement sidewalks curb & gutters and paving the road- way, from Southwest "C" to "D Street , was received and referred to City Civil Engineer fca plans etc ., The City Engineer presented estimate of $876 . 75 as the cost of widening the pavement at 16th & Main Streets. Upon the recommendation or Fire Chief E. E. Miller, Jeremiah Miller Captain of No. 4 Hose Company, was retired from service as fireman and placed on Firemen' s Pension Roll . The Board approved a primary assessment roll of benefits and damages under Declaratory Resolution No. 191-1925, for the vacation of South 11th Street , from South "J" Street , south to proposed open- ing of South "L" Street; also , vacation of alleys east & west of said South 11th Street , from South "J" Street, south to proposed South "L" Street . Claims in amount of 14 ,385 .92 were allowed & ordered paid. All the members of said Board ,Messrs, Land, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit :- A petition signed by Julius E. Bell et-al , praying for the vaca- • -- tion of South. 7th Street, from South "M" to "N" Street , was received and referred to Engineering Department for plans , resoultion, e.tc . , A communication from Board of Trustees of 'Richmond Lodge of Elks No. 649 , regarding a large tree in front of their property on • Borth 8th Street , which tree is declared a menace by Mr. Thompson a botanist & student of trees, was received, after some discus - sion in the muter the Board grant said Lodge permission to, re- move said tree. Sup't. , Hess was instructed to repair the light to the south of City hall building at the entrance to Police Matrons office. The Clerk was directed to request City Attorney, to investigate and report what steps are necessary to be taken by the City, to sell the feathers left at the old number 1 , engine house , by a former tenant of said hpuse. • The Board then adj ourned, Pof�Bo ard. d a Attest : • eik o ard�%�
