HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-21-1925 Office of Board- of Public Works , 27 City of Richmond , Indiana, " Monday September 21st, 1925. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday September 21st , 1925, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs , Land , Mci'ail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - The Board instruct Fire Chief E.E.Miller, to attend the national Convention of Fire Chiefs to be held at Louisville , Ky. , week of September 29 , 1925, the city to pay his legitemate expenses. Street Commissioner Lyons , was instructed to cut the weeds and clean up at east end of Main Street bridge on south side of Main Street; also to have streets marked at curbs on North 19th Street, from Main Street north to bridge ; and have North "F" Street markers changed to "Glen Court" from North 19th to Glen Miller Park. The Board directed the Finance Department to pay the following con- tractors the 5% reserves due as follows , viz : - Imp. Resdluti.on No. 690-1924, Schnieder Bros $83.69 " " " 733-1924 . Z.B.Pyle Co. , 147 .03 " " " 734-1924 ,D. G.Burkhardt 60 .66 Clerk was directed to notify Alfred Underhill to have the walk con- structed by him, changed to conform to grade under the directions of City Engineer, by Oct. 15, 1925, if not attended to , by that date the City will tear up said walk and re-construct same and charge it against the property on North 19th Street . The City Attorney reported in the matter of petition filed and re- ferred to him, as to the Richmond Gravel Co. , plant in South 5th Street being a nuisance , the remedy is by action in the Circuit Court to be taken by the petitioners to 'abate nuisance if any there be. The Clerk was directed to notify petitioners as to report . The Clerk was instructed to notify the heads of City Departments to make all purchases for their departments thru the purchasing depart- ment of city, to be established at City Light Plant ,after October 1st, 1925. Claims in amount of y$15,995 .47 were allowed & ordered paid. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday September 24th , 1925, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , Land , McFail and Henley beiji:g present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - The Board met to hear remonstrance if any, of persons primarily assessed as benefits and damages awarded in the matter of the op- ening of the alley between North 6th & 7th Street, from North "C" Street, south to the 1st alley running east & west , as provided for under Declaratory Resolution No. 190-1925. No one appearing and no remonstrance having been filed, the Board being fully advised in the premises unanimously approved a final assessment roll of bene- fits & award of damages as heretofore approved, and now direct . the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance , and thereupon declare said alley opened to North "C" Stre et . Complaint received from Council as to bad. condition at Railroad & North "D" Street, Clerk directed to notify Railroad. Co' s. , as to stone walk at Union National Bank, Board decide to investi- gate. • - The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids under city' s plans for erecting cement block comfort station arid. plumbing for same to be erected & installed on Market grounds South "A" between South 5th & 6th Streets. The Clerk was directed to re-advertise for the planting of trees in Reeveston Streets, as provided under Improvement Resolutions No. , 764-765-766 & •767-1925. The Board issue contractors certificates 16 & 17 to W. L. Magaw contractor under Improvement Resolutions No. 753 & 754-1925, in amount of $5329 . 50 & y 4638 .01, being 85% of work completed. The Clerk was directed to request the Richmond. S'.gn System to Pive designs and prices for signs to be placed at Glen Miller ark and at 8th & Ma in Streets , four large signs "We lc ome Glen Miller Park" , and four small signs directing persons to Public Comfort Station. The Board approved the bond of L.N.Cox principal & The U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Co . , as sureties,_ Gasoline Pump at No . 30 North 7th Street .
