The Board of Public Works of the City of hichmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday July 2nd . 1925, at 9 O' clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - . Persons residing on Nort# 6th Street, between Main & North "A" St. appeared before the Board , requesting that the Board take action to stop roller skating on said -street , as it was becoming very annoying and the boisterous conduct of skaters was a nuisance. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Community Service , that the privilege of using North 6th Street for roller skating is revoked, and request the sect' of said 6ervi ce to meet with them on Monday next . _ The Board received letter from His Honor L.A.Handley Mayor, re- questing that the Street & Engineering Departments be instructed to prepare a plan , by which public service corporations et-al can be given an accounting for the cost of backfilling of trenches done. by "the city, where deposits have been 'made to City under the estimate of the City Engineer, (so ordered) . The Board issued Contractors certificate No. 12, in favor of Harold Tharp contractor under. Improvement Resolution No.757-1925. The Board received report of W.K.Hatt .& E.L. Eriksen , . Purdue Uni- versi ty Engineers , in matter of inspections of Doran Bridge, stating that in their opinion the bridge is safe for the present traffic provided that the trucks do not exceed a total load of 7-1- tons and provided that attention is given to certain small repairs and adjustments of the bracing. The Clerk was directed to notify I. E. Smith , to look over the report and give them an estimate of cost to make said necessary repairs. Also to prepare an ordinance requesting an appropriation in V sum of y,550 .00 to pay the engineers claim .for cost of making such inspection of bridge.. The Clerk was instructed to request the American Dist . Telegraph & Telephone Co,. , to paint their pole "White" located at Washington Avenue & North 6th Street , to prevent persons from running into the same . The Board received bids for improvement of the alley between State 8c Williams Street, by constructing a cement roadway from Boyer to Northwest 2nd Street under Improvement resolution No. 776-1925 as follows , to-wit : - " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid : - Roadway complete. 0.222 sq-foot Sewer connections $1.75 per linear foot The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt , being the only bid received and being within' the estirii:te of the City Civil Engineer, the contract was so awarded. . • 248 Thar sday July 2nd 1925 . The Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action on Declaratory Resolution No. 188-1925., for the widening of South "J" Street, ( 7ft. ) on the north side and (10ft. ) of the south side of said street , from South 9th Street to the ,east line of South 13th Street. 'No remonstrance being filed with or present- ed to the board against said proposed widening , thereupon, k k being fully advised in the matter, the board takes final action on said resolution, confirming, without modificatio n, aall for- mer acti on taken on the same . And the Board now orders that a list or roll be prepared of all owners or holders of property, and of valuable interests therein , sought to .be taken or to be injuriously affected , which list or roll shall also describe the property beneficially affected. The Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action on Declaratory Resolution No. 189-1925 , for the widening of South "J" Street (7 feet ) on north side and (10 feet ) on south side of said street , from the east line of South 13th Street to the center line of Sevtion .4, Tp. 13, Rnge . 1, West . No remonstrance being filed or presented to the board against said proposed widening , .thereupon, being fully advi sed in the matter, the board takes final action on said resolution, confirming , with- out modification, all former action taken on the same . And the Board now orders that a list or roll be prepared of all owners or holders of property, and of valuable interests therein, sought to be taken or to be injuri ously affected , which list or riall shall also- describe the property beneficially affected. The City Engineer recommended that calcium chloride flakes be placed on the grounds of childrens .playgrpunas in Glen Parks . to eliminate, the dust , he was directed to prepare. an estimate of the cost. • Communication was received from G.K. Jeffries Gen. Sup' t . of T.H. I.& E.Traction Co. , promising to eliminate as much as pos- sible the standing of any cars in the street, claiming they have issued instructions_ to employees that holding cars in front of fire station in North 5th Street , must not be done . Communication from A.W.Brayton, was received stating that regard- less of whether or not the city decides to put paths in thru• the park at this time , it is advisable that the stakes be driven down in the ground firmly.
