Konday June 8th, 1925.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said. Board Monday June 8th
1925 , at 9 o' clock A. Ivi. All the members of said Board , Messrs ,
Land, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings
were had , to-wit :-
The Board received communication from G.R.Barry Sup' t. , Pensy.
Railroad System, Richmond. Division. ; requesting that the City
establish some restrictionsLon parking at their depot, on north
side of North "E" Street, taking the form of a limit of time
during which cars may stand. at the curb - say 'not to exceed fifteen
( 15 ) minutes, referred to Sup't of Police , by the Board asking that
a time limit be placed for parking along these curbs.
The Board received communication from Mrs . Mary A. Weller, stating
she would give the City a strip of ground 5 foot wide and tun foot
long, runing east & west on north side of North "A" Stre et , the
same being part of private alley just west & adjoining the Roxana
Petroleum Cor. , for the purpose of widening North "A" Street ,from
5th to 6th Street , with the understanding that the City pay any & •
all costs connected with making street , sidewalk, curb & gutter '&
furnishing the deed. to said strip, of ground City accepted same
and ordered letter held until arrangements are made with other
property owners along North "A" Street, from 5th to 6th Street.
The Board received letter from Postal-Telegraph-Cable Co. , stating
they will co -operate with the City in matter of moving poles on
North "A" Street , from 5th to 6th Street, in view of widening said
street.
The Board received bids for refreshment privilege sale and letting
boats for hire in Glen Miller Park, for 5 years beginning Nov. 1,
1925, to Nov. 1, 1930 , as follows, to-wit : -
" Chas. W. Jessop, bid. : -
For let year y' 600.00; 2nd. year-- $700 .00; 3rd year--$800 .00 ; 4th
year-- ' 900 .00 and 5th year $1 ,000.00, the bid of Chas. W. Jessop
being the only bid. received; the Board award said contract to the
said Chas. W. Jessop.
The Board received bids , for furnishing 33 Lighting standards for
South� -19th & 20th2/Streets, from Reeveston Road to South "E" Street
and Glen Miller Park, as follows :
" The Varney Electrical Supply Co. , bid ;
33 Ornamental Lighting Standards , complete with glass-ware ; Auto-
Trans formers etc . , Edgewater type posts , Co $65 .60 each.
Disconnecting Pot-heads-- - 6.00 each.
Bids referred to SupT. , Light Plant , with pri vi le ge of awarding
contract if found satisfactory.
The Board receivd bids for ONE TON Motor driven truck, with open
cab & dump body, for use of Municipal Electric Lighting & Power
Plant , as fo ll ow s : -

The Board referred the above bids for investigation to Mr.

D.C.Hess, Sup' t., light plant and selection of truck Mr. Hess
after investigating bids recommended the purchase of Ford One ton
truck , Anthony dump body Neptune transmission & external brakes
& Neptune dater pump, with open cab , the Board award the contract
to "W. E. McWhinney Co. , at their bid of 041 .25, delivered.
The Board received bids for furnishing 100 tons more or less i .R.
Pocahontas Coal to be delivered in bins at City Hall ; 65 tons
more or less Pocahontas Lump Coal, to be delivered to No' s. 2, 3,
4 & 5 hose houses, and 15 tons more or less Winifred Coal or its
equal to be delivered to Detention Hospital , as follows : -

All bids taken under advisement , for investigation and
statements from bidder as to the kind of coal they are bidding on.
The Board called firemen , Aiken, Williams & Paddock of No. 3 Hose Co.
and Ogbora , Strayer and iietherford of No. 2, Pumping Co., before them
to investigate the cause of trucks coming together at corner of North
15th & "F" Streets on May 29 , 1925 at 11 A.M.
_ Mr. Aiken stated that they were upstairs cleaning house when the tel-
ephone alarm" was received by Mr. Williams , who took the call as of
coming from 823 North 15th Street , and his company were a few seconds
late in getting started from the house and dent down North 15th in-
stead of 16th Street , and were going at the rate of about 25 miles pe
did not see or hear No' s 2 , until they were right on them and tried
to .turn east , his testimony was confirmed by Messrs , -Paddock & Wil-
liams. Mr. Ogborn, stated his company responded immediately to the
alarm and were goinggat the rate of about 25 miles- per. did not hear
or see No. 3 Co. , until right up to them and tried to turn north but
could not prevent the collision, which was confirmed by Messrs,Stray-
er & Retherford. The Board decided that their probably was no blame
to be attached to any one and was according to the testimony an ,un-
avoidable 'occurance
Claims in amount of 411 ,456.91 were allowed.
