HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-07-1925 222 Office of Board of Public Works , CitynofRichmond , Indiana, Thursday May 7th , 192 5. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 7th , 1925, at 9 o' clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Land , McFail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-tit : - Pursuant to continuance to this date . The Board met to hear per- sons primarily assessed on account of the widening of South "J" I/ Street , from South 9th Street to the center line of Section 4 , Township 13, Range 1, West , under -Beclaratory Resolution No. 183- 1925. After carefully considering remonstrances heretofore filed by the hears of Caroline Fihe and Om. Triplett, remonstrating against their respective assessments of benefits &award of ')amages The Board rescind all former action heretofore taken under said resolution, and ordered new Leclaratory Resolutions prepared one to widen the street from South 9th Street to 13th Street and one to widen the street , from South 13th Street , east . • The Board unanimously adopted Beclaratory Resolution No. 187-1925 providing for the widening and extension of Southwest "C" Street from Southwest 4th Street to College Avenue. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 776-1925 for the improvement of the Alley between State & Williams Street by constructing a cement roadway from Boyer to Northwest 2nd St. The Board received bids for the improvement of Southwest 2nd. St. by constructing cement curb , gutter & sidewalk on east side there- of, at Vacated Howard Street, under. Improvement Resolution 759- 1925, as follows , to-wit : - " John F. Hipskind , bid ; Cement Si.dewalk, . 25c' sq-foot , Cement curb & gutter, 1. 30-fir_-ft. The bid of John F. Hipskind being the only bid received and being with the estimate , contract was so awarded. The Board received bids for the Improvement of South "I" Street by constructing cement curb & gutter & grading & graveling the roadway, from South .9th Street, west to the alley, under Improve- ment hesolu.ti.on No. 772-1925, as iollIws to-wit : - " John F. Hipskind, bid ; Street Complete-- - - --g10 .65 per tin-ft. " Z. B. Pyle Co. , bid ; Street Complete 5 11.49 per line-ft . The Bid of John F. Hipskind being the lowest and within the es- timate of Engineer, the bontract was so awarded. The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley between Main & Icirisey Street , by constructing cement roadway from North 11. - west 1st to 2nd Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 773-1925 " E. A. Eariani & Co. , bid ; Roadway complete -- --. 19^d per sq-foot. " Z. B. Pyle & Co. , bid ; Roadway complete .21' °per sq-foot . " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid ; Roadway complete .-22gy per sq-foot . The bid of .;.A. Mariani & Co. , being the lowest & within the esti- mate the contract was so awarded. Thursday May 7th , 1925. 223 The Board issue contractors certificate to W. L. Magaw Contractor under Improvement hesoluti on No. 754-1925 , for the improvement of South 19th Street, Certificate No. . 8 , 42275 .00 being 85% of the work completed. The Board direct W. L. Magaw, to continue the improvement of South 19th , also South 20th Street to South "E" Street, the City and contractor to combine in making of the intersection. The idater `)ks. Co. , were directed to elAend water mains in said street to South "E" Street. The Board received bids on two One Ton motor driven trucks with dump bodies , for use of Street Department as follows, to-wit : - " d. E. McWhinney Co. , bid Two one trucks with dump bodies , delivered-- 1 ,402. 50 " Balbey Motor Sales Co. , bid ; Two Chevrolet dump trucs , delivered--- -- ---- 1 ,462.00 The above bids referred to Street Commissioner for investigation - and report. The Board received bids for 200 more or less metal "Stop Signs" , as follows , to- it : " S t•. afety Traffic Sign Co. , bid; 4:95 each delivered. " Street Signal Co. , bid ; : 4. 95 each delivered. Gretney Traffic Guide Co. , bid , Indianapolis , Ind. , 200 signs .. w950 . 00 f. o .b. hichmond , Marion Machine & i oun-dry Co. , --- - 6.50 each f. o.b . hichmond, hichmond Malleable Castings Co. , bid , -- 5.00 each, not painted. All the above prcpcsals referred to Supt . , of Police for in- vestigation arid report .- The City Civil Engineer, was directed to issue no more permits for setting poles , without the saction of Board of Public �+orks .
