HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-30-1925 Office of Board of Public Works , 219 City of Richmond , Indiana, Thursday Apri 1 , 30 th ,-19 2 5 • The Board of -Public Works of the City of '1-Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the- office of said Board, Thursday April 30th, 1925, at 9 o' clock A. Y. All the members of said Board Messrs , Land, , McFai1 and Henley being present , the following proceedings. were had , to-wit : - The Board met of hear remonstrances of persons primarily assessed in the matter of benefits & damages under Declaratory resolution ' No. 182-1925, for the widening of South "I" Street , 5 feet on each side thereof, from South 9th Street, east to the east line of Lot No. 6 , East Oakland , Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana. After hearing all persons interested rho appeared, and carefully considering verbal remonstrances , the Board being duly advised in the premises. The Board approved a final assessment roll confirming in all things the primary assessment of benefits and award of damageE heretofore approved, and now direct the same be transmitted forth- with to the Department of Finance . - The Board met to hear remonstrance if any, of persons primarily as- sessed as benefits & award of damages in matter of widening of South "J" Street , ( 7 ' ) on the north side and (10 ' ) on south side of street from South 9th Street to the center line of Section 4 , Township 13, .L\ange 1, West , under Declaratory iresolution No. 183-1925. A remon- strance having been filed by the Attorney A. M. Gardner, for the heirs-at-law of Caroline Fihe , estate claiming they would not be benefited but would be damages in the amount of y100.00. The Board continued hearing on the above assessment roll , to Thursday May 7 , 1925 at 9 o' clock A.M. The Board met to hear remonstrances , if any of persons primarily as- sessed as benefits & award of damages in hatter of widening the al- ley on the north side thereof, between State & Williams Street,fror2 Boyer to Northwest 2nd Street , under Declaratory resolution No. 185- 192 . No gine remonstrating against the assessment of benefits or the award of damages. The Board approved the final assessment roll con- firming the original assessment roll as heretofore approved , and now direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance In the matter of Claim presented by E. J. Weidner and Thos. I. Ahl , former County Treasurers and ex-officio treasurers, as follows : - "E. J. Weidner, Treasurer from Jan. 1, 1917 to Dec . 3lst, 1920, Interest. on) spe.cial funds for above period-- 1625.30. " Thos . I. Ahl , Treasurer from Jan. 1 , 1921 to Dec. 31 , 1924, Interest on special funds for above period ;; 1140 .05. Upon the recommendation of City Attorney Wm. H. Kelley, the Board unanimously disallowed the above claims. The Board approved the contract and bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt Contractor, under Improvement i-.esolution No 769-1925, also Resolu- tion No. 771-1925. 220 Thursday Iilpyil 30th , 1925. The Board upon the recommendation of. Building Inspector and Fire Chief, award the contract for the heating system in the new fire station, to C. H. Strebe , Plumbing Co. , as per bid submitted April° 27th, 1925, taking their alternate bid specifying #20W-7S boiler Prox Economic this boiler being the former 005 Prox iconomic, with a capacity of 2600 feet for the price of cl548. 90. The Board fix the bond of said contractors in the penal sum of y1500.00. . The Board direct the City Civil Engineer, to take prcper steps to have the obstructions removed from the 1st alley east of Northwest 5th Street, from Maple Street to Linden Avenue as recently declared opened to the public. The Clerk was directed to request legal opinion from the City Atorney as to the city's rights under the ordinance of the city reouiring any persons or utilities dig-ing into the streets to make a deposit with the City Controller, and the city to do the back filling, etc . , as pertains to the Street Car Company breaking into the streets . Claims • in amount of 0_6, 769 .19 were allowed and ordered paid. Lay 4th, The Board direct the Building Inspector, to issue a permit to the i+ashington Theatre , to extend their canopy 12ft . each way from the present canopy, if constructed satisfactorily to the Chief of Fire Department. • /8 '-'I f - The Board now order that electric lamp post system be installed in South`-19th w 20th Streets , from heeveston Load; to South"E" Street ,by the ,i.E. L.& P.P. said posts w, foundations to be paid for by assessment made against abutting nroperty ,, asprovided for under Sec . 138, Thornton' s Law of City ' s & Towns of Indiana.
