Mr Horovita made motion that where milk is sold from a stand in con- junction with other lines of business that a liscense of $ 10.00 be charged -- Mr Farr seconded same and the motion was carried. Disaission about the Power plant came up:arxi the Mayor said that the Hotel was using more power thatn the Town could stand. - -- his idea was that the charge of $ 60c.00 per month did not include the ice plant. Mr Espy said that the Town should not let Durden4Powers discontinue electric cervice - -- they contending that the charge of $ 300.00 per month was too high - -- he thought that the Mayor should handle with them and try and arrive at some agreement. The Mayor said that he waould see Mr Cann about the Hotel using extra current. The Mayor informed Councul that he had renewed the Dixon Contracting Co., notes for 12 months at 7 per cent interest. Mr Horovitz brought up the matter of charging a liscense for motion p pictures and said that he thought that a liscense of $ 50.00 would be fair, - -- Mir Espy said that the Mayor should be given authority to act - -- Mayor Harris made r - solution that a liscense of $ 50.00 per year for operation for each and every Motion pictures house or theatre in the Town of Tybee to be conducted under sfaety regulations as the Town may decide - - -- passed. Mayor Harris asked that a liscense of $ 15.00 for light weight auto- trucks (Not over 1 ton) soliciting and delivering business in the Town be passed - -- and upon motionof Mr Horovits seconded by Mr Farr was passed. There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. Town of Tybee,G ..,June 19th 1925. A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 11;30 a.m. in the offices of Councilmen Espy and Walthour and was attended by Mayor Harris and Councilmen Cann ,Farr,Espy,Horovitz,Walthour and former Mayor E .G eorge Butler. i :ayor Harris brought up the question the operating the Power plant which is now being operated at a loss - -- for the first month of its operation this season the deficit was approximately $ 500.00 - -- the Mayor said that he had an engineer from the Savannah Electric Co go down and spend anentire day at the plant in an effort to ascertain what the trouble was and his opinion was that nothing could be done witho rehabilitating the entire plant - -- one thing was noticeable was the currant consumed by the ice punt at Hotel Tybee. Mr Butler asked to be heard and said that in his opinion it would be In in necessary for the Town to take a loss on the power plant for at Least two 14 or three years of at least from $ 1500.00 to $ 2900.00 leI ea Mr Farr said that as the Town is operating the plant as its own and as th oost so far has beeAvery reasonable,when consideration is made that if th 0 Town had to buy an electric plant the cost of same would be quite large. he Mayor informed Council that he Y h had stopped the operation of the mach ines put in by some of the concessioests as they were not in line with the candy vending machines that were permiteed but were simply out and out old time gambling machines - -- he said the machines hhould give value received. The i,Zayor called attention to some opposition in the neforcement of the septic tank ordin=3.nce and mentioned Lhat he had written a letter to the Town attorneys to draw up an ordinance to prohibit the emptying of sew - erage into the waterways around Tybee. The Mayor read a letter from the G.R.R.agreeing to furnish gravel for 16th street from Butter ave to the beach if the Town would lay same, it was decided to accept thia proposal and arrangents will be made to have the County forces lay and surface it. The Mayor said that he had to let Policeman Bergman go because of his inefficiency - -- F.E.Linder was appointed to take his place. As he had met with the ministerial associati On before ass as he thought it well to have Council meet with them The Mayor said that he had re- quested them to meet with Council at 12:30 P.M.to -day. 'here being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor ieeting of Council and representatives from ministerial asscoiation composed of Judge Samual B.Adams,Mr Gordon L.Gruver,Mr James M.Rogers and Rev.Mr.D.C.Wright. Mr Adams spoke and said that he wanted /voice his protest against Sunday dancing - -- Mr Gruver said that he was in accord with every- thing that Judge Adams had said - -- as did rdr $ogers,who also said that that was a possibility of the rest of the state reacting against Savannah and tybee. - -- Rev Mr Wrjght said that he was against Sunday d dancing and asked that Council pass an ordinance prohibiting it. The Mayor asked Council that if they wanted to take any action he would hear rrom them - -- Mr Cann said that from the standpoint of policy he would not permit it,but that whatever Council decided to do he would vote with the rest - -- Mr Espy said that it is probable that a bill will be passed in the coming session of the state legislature prohiimibiti ng Sunday danciin regardless of what action Tybee takes, 1so that the property owners were asked for their views on this sub - ect,.they gave it and that it was up to Council to carry out the views of the peaple,he said that he personally was against dancing on any day. Mr Horovitz said that agreed with Mr Espy - -- Mr Farr said if we took sentiment of people we should stick to it - -- Mr Waithour mate a motion that things stand as they are now until the state legislature passes on it - -- the motion was carried.
