ROUTE 30 IN THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD FOR THE PURPOSE OF SPRING FEST FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008 AT 5:00 P.M. THROUGH SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2008 AT MIDNIGHT. WHEREAS, MainStreet Plainfield, Inc. desires to hold their Annual Spring Fest on a portion of U. S. Route 30 between Fox River Street and Route 59 on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. through Sunday, May 18, 2008 at midnight, and, WHEREAS, said Spring Fest will require the closing of Route 30 between the east junction with Illinois Route S9 and the west junction with Fox River Street; and, WHEREAS, said Spring Fest will require the detouring of traffic both east and westbound on Lockport Street (U.S. Rt. 30); and, WHEREAS, the State of Illinois requires the Village to assume all responsibility and liability involved in the closing of said highway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Village of Plainfield will provide supervision for the direction, protection and regulation of traffic during the time the detour is in effect occasioned by the closing of said State Route, and usage of Illinois 126, a State jurisdiction road. 2. It is further agreed that efficient, all weather detours will be maintained conspicuously marked and judiciously police patrolled for the benefit of traffic deviated from the Rt. 30 Route. 3. The alternate route will be to continue Route 30 North to Illinois 126, then west to Route 30. Detour signs will be posted for both northbound and southbound traffic. Re: Spring Fest 2008 In an effort to keep downtown Plainfield a focus for the community during the upcoming Streetscape Project, MainStreet Plainfield, Inc. would like to maintain its standard calendar of promotions including Spring Fest_ Due to the construction on Lockport Street, we have made some modifications to our standard Spring Fest layout. The festival dates and hours proposed are as follows: Saturday, May 17th 10 a.m.-Midnight Sunday, May 18th Noon----6 p.m. We are requesting the following road closures from 5 p.m. Friday, May 16th until midnight Sunday, May 18th: *Lockport Street--between James Street and Route 59 with one way access (heading East) from James Street to Fox River Street. *Illinois Street--between the alley behind The Sleepy Pony/ Steiner Building And the alley behind the former Clock Tower Antiques building. '"Des Plaines Street---between the alley south of the Fire Station and Ottawa Street. *Chicago Street--between Des Plaines Street and Fox River Street. We are also requesting the use of the Village parking lot by Andreasan's Travel and the lot on Lockport Street (the former First Midwest Bank parking lot now leased by the village). Permission will also be asked ofi Carl Bryant, property owner. We would also like to use the Village Hall Parking Lot for fest attendee parking. A request has been submitted to the Plainfield Park District for the use of the Village Green. It is currently under review. A liquor license will be obtained for the beer tent. Attached, please find a map detailing the proposed closures. We thank you in advance for your consideration.
