A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE "GREEN VILLAGE" INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield has created an ecologically friendly initiative which will
incorporate a variety of plans and ordinances determined to be sensitive to the needs of the
environment as development continues to occur; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield is committed to sustainable development approaches and
preserving the existing character and sense of place of the surrounding landscape; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield created Beautification Plan, Natural Landscaping Design
Guidelines and Countryside Plan to enhance the Village's green network by preserving land in a
natural state, and providing links between the Village's green areas; and
WHEREAS, the initiative will be ongoing and evolve with the passing of time; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield will educate and promote the program through educational
brochures, posters, educational classes, and the incorporation of the Village's Density Bonus
program into the Village's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, staff presented this plan to the Village of Plainfield Village President and Board of
Trustees at the October 22, 2007 meeting of the Committee of the Whole.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village of Plainfield does hereby actively
support the "Green Village" initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village of Plainfield endorses the use of the
"Beautification Plan," "Natural Landscaping Design Guidelines" and "Countryside Plan" as key
components for the development and implementation of the "Green Village" initiative.
