VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD
OPPOSING THE INCREASED TRUCK
TRAFFIC THAT WILL BEGENERATED
AS PART OF THE OPERATION OF THE
PROPOSED FOX MORAINE LANDFILL
WHEREAS, most of the current major roadways within the Village have exceeded their
design capacity and significant traffic congestion within the Village is common; and
WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville has received a request from Fox Moraine,LLC
to construct and operate a landfill on a 469-acre parcel on the southwestern edge of
Yorkville; and
WHEREAS, the operation of this proposed landfill would cause an estimated 235
garbage truck trips a day to occur along Route 126 and through the V illage of Plainfield;
and
WHEREAS, the Village has commissioned a traffic study, completed by Land
Strategies, Inc. and dated February 27, 2007, that confirms increased traffic congestion
within Plainfield will occur if the landfill is constructed and related vehicles utilize Route
126; and
WHEREAS, during the public hearings conducted ui Yorkville representatives of the
Village have attended and voiced oppasition to the increased traffic that would be created
by the landfill; and
WHEREAS, Plainfield believes that the applicant, Fax Moraine, LLC, has not met the
required "Nine Siting Criteria" that state "The traffic patterns to or from the facility are
so designed as to minimize the impact on existing traffic flaws"; and
WHEREAS, during a public open house discussion on April 18, 2007 at the Plainfield
Village Hall residents voiced opposition to the increased traffic that would be created by
the landfill; and
WHEREAS, it is believed that the increased traffic caused by the operation of the
landfill will have a negative impact on the wellbeing of the residents of Plainfield.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Plainfield opposes the
routing of the trucks through downtown Plainfield, and is therefore opposed to the
application and operation of the Yorkville Fox Moraine Landfill as currently proposed.
