The Board of Public, Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in
regular se s si on at the office of said Board Monday January 5th ,
1925, at 9 o` clock A. M. All the members of sa id Board ' being Ares-
_ .ent , Messrs , Land , McFai1 and Henley. The fo llowing proceedings:
were had , to -wit : - _
The Board received communication from IV. B. HariierCor_nander of
Harry Ray .Post No. 65, Ame ri can Legion, regv.eTti ng to know the
agreement as verbally made some time ago as to holding meetings in
. No. 4 hose house . The Board directed the Clerk • to noti fy said Post ,
as fo Vows ; The Board- grants pe rmissio n to s aid Harry Ray Post , to
meet in second floor room of No. 4 hose house, for meetings of the
Post and Auxi. nary ; this permissi on not to be construed as permit
ti ng th em to meet every night in -the week or to us e said room for
club rooms . The furni ture of the po st to be kept available for use
in the room for community purposes as has been the case in the
past . - .
The Board. ' rec eive d recommendation from the Chief of Police for the
purchase at once of a Lungmotor , stati ng the Police Department hav e
_ had. -3 cases of persons ov.ercokie With gas in the last week, stating •
no doubt in his mind the last person could have been saved if the
department had, had a lun4.motor . The Board directed Mr.- Eversman
Chief to recommend what kind of a lungmotor to purchase; also as to
the condi ti o n of the present apparatus nor used by the city.
In matter of Arc Lights requested by Mr. Stegman, Sup` t. , Hess re-
-ported the reason •of the darkness on North "D" Stre et be tw een North
22nd. & 23rd Street, because of the fact of a large tree at the in-
tersection of 23rd & N. "D" Street; stati ng he was not justified
• recommending additional light in th is block, but howeve r that N. 20
is very ._dark and should have additional lights ; Mr. Hess recommended
4n additional light at intersection of South 9th & "H" Street at
the jog in "H" Street running west from 9th Str eet, concurred in.
The Board directed the Finance Department to pay Hayes Construction
C o. , the reserves held on the: following contra cts , to -wit : -
Resolution No. 661-1923, Reeve ston• Road ; also South 21st Street,
15% retained--- p2,027..14 ; Resolution No. 685-1923 ,15% retained for -
North "B" Street from 7th to 8th Stre et ; -6174.ZO . .
The Street Commissioner was directed to have water shut off at hy-
drants North 12th & "F" Ste, 23rd' & Main. Sts. and 3rd & Main Sts ,xxi
wi th a view of placing drinking fountains at the se points
