The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indi ana , met in regular session at the offi-ce of said Board Monday October 27th, 1924, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the, members of said. Board , Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley being present. The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - - No meeting of: the Board held Thursday October 23rd , 1924, The ac- cidental death of Wm. Kenney Fireman and injuries to Webster Mar- shall which occured at the Ear lham College` fire on the night of October 22nd , 1924, was reported , as was also the death of J.W. Henniger Motorcycle policeman-, who died from injuries sustained October 21 st , 1924. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No.746-1924, for the improve- ment of alley 1st north of South "E" Street, by cement roadway from South 6th Street east to alley. No remonstrance having been filed. the Board being duly advised in the premises , approved a final as- sessment roll confirming the original assessment roll as heretofore approved , and now direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance .The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons primarily assessed under Improvement resolution No.748-1924,- for the improve- ment of the alley between South 9th & 10th Street, by cement road- way from South "C" to "E" Street . No remonstrance having been fi led the Board being duly advised in the premises, unanixously approved a final assessment roll confi rming the original assessment roll as heretofore approved, and now direct that the same be forthwith transom mitted to the Department of Finance. • The Board awarded the contract for one One man power grader to the W.E.McWhinney Company according to their bid received Oct.6 , 1924. The Board fix November let , 1924, for the closin0 of Municipal Golf Course for the season of 1924. Permission was granted to Harry Sittloh, to cut the curb at Lot 5, on south side of South "G" Street between 10th & 11th Street. The Board granted pe rmission to the Community Servi ce to on the night of October 31E1; , 1924, (Halloween) to close Main Street from 4th to 10th Street, during the festiviti es , also North "A" Street from 10th to 11th for roller skating, and North "A" Street, from North 8th to 9th Street , for dancing from 8 to 10.30 F.M. The Board received communication from Richmond City Water Works , requesting a meeting, on account of bursting of water main at time of Larlham College Fire . the Clerk was directed to notify them the Board has fixed Thursday October 30th, 1924, 9 A.M. as date and time for said meeting. Monday October 27 th", 1924. 1 •5-3, The Board directed the Finance Depart men t , to pay the 5% reserves retained under Improvement LLe so luti o ns named to the fo ll owing contractors as 'follows , to -wit:.- " Improvement Resolution No. 689-1923, for sewer in alley between North 12th & 13 th Str eets , from .North 13th Stre et west to alley John S. Duke , contractor amount due $18 .11 Improvement Resolution No. 695-1925, sewer in Southwest 5th Street from Southwest "A" Street to alley north , between Main & Southwest "A" Street , John S. Duke • contractor , amount due $25.08 Improvement 'Resolution No. 659 -1923, Alley between Charles and Williams Street ,. cement roadway from Boyer to Northwest 2nd Street E.A.Mariani , contractor , amount due ----, $63. 91 . . A petition signed by J. W.H.Crafton et -al , for an arc light at Maple & Harris Street, referred. to Boardby, Council, was received and taken under advisement for report from Sup`t. M.E.L. & P.P. . The Board renew contract with General Electric Co., for Meters for ' M. E. L. & P. P. for year ending November 19th , 1925. The Board -received communication from the South Side Improvement Associ atio n, together with Resolution passed by said association ' opposing the proposed partial annexation of Bealview, as proposed by the City Plan •Commission, stating that the said association al- ' ways has been neutral and ' still is as to when this addition shall be annexed, to the City of Richmond, Indiana, but does insist that when taken into the City the entire addition be taken in.
