HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-06-1924 Office of Board of Public Works 145 City of, Richmond, Indiana, Monday October 6th , 1924. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday October 6th, 1924, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs ,Land , McPail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit : - The Building Inspector, was instructed to grant permit to the Star Piano Co. , to construct a canopy to their building on south 10th Street side at 10th & Main Streets, the same to be erected 12 feet above the sidewalk at the lowest point thereof, 12 feet Wide_ and to extend over the sidewalk about 62 feet. The matter of bill of Paul Frist in sum of $55.40, in account with Central Auto Repair Shop, for,' damages to automobile of Mr. Frists, was on recommendation of City Attorney allowed, providing Mr. grist signs proper release from further damages incidental to the damage caused by run away team of Park Department . The Board received bids for the following equipment for use of City Street Department as follows, . towit : - W. E. McWhinney Co. , bid : Fordson Tractor-- 495.00; freight & delivery-331.00; Wehr One( 1)Man Grader-3441.00 ; one set W.& K.Dual Wheels-$395.00;One set W.& K. Extension Rims for Dual Wheels-327.00; One set Weed special chains 336.00 ;` Front spring & Axle- 36. 50 ; One Govenor-$22. 50 ; One Wehr Muffler-35.00 ; Lights front & rear-38.00 ; Above equipment installed complete and delivered--01497,,00. The Board take bid under advisement, for investigation and confer- ence with Street Commissioner. A communication was received from Richmond Light ,Heat & Power Co. , in matter of petition of A.C.Underhill for gas in North 19th Street north of railroad bridge , stating that he had canvassed the situation before North 19th Street was paved, and as their mains where 70 ft. south of the bridge, it was now to late to make the extension north of railroad. A communication was received from W. Graves Chief Engineer of T.H. I.& Traction Co. , stating the depression in tracks in Main Street bridge was in no way caused by their company, they desired to know who would re-imburse them for the expense which would be incurred in case they raised their tracks as requested by the City. The Clerk was directed to notify them the City was in no way to blame for the construction of the bridge, and that the policy being pursued by the company was 11/ not in accord with their former policy between the City and Company. Upon the complaint of E.K.Lumpkin, the Clerk was directed to notify the T.H. I.& E. Traction Co. , to remove the old rails , bricks and other debris from Main Street between 5th & 7th Street.
