City of .Richmond , Indiana;
Monday August 4th , 1924.
The Board. of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in
regular session at the office of said Board Monday August 4th, 1924,
at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , Land, McFall, •
and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit :
The Clerk reported he had received Quit-Claim Deed, from the T.H. I.
& E. Traction Co., conveying to the City a strip of round 51- feet
in width off the entire east part of Tract No. 216 , Official Map,
from Southwest "C" Street to north line of let alley south of Nation-
al Road . The Board directed. the Clerk to have the same recorded.
A petition for the improvement of Southwest 5th Street, by cement
sidewalks , curb, gutter and grading roadway & paving with 8" gravel
_ base with macadam surface, treated with Tarvia "B" or its equal , same
was taken under advdsement . ( "C" to "E" Stl )
The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 178-1924.
to widen the alley to a width of 14 feet , be twe en South 16th & 17th
Street , from South "A" Street to north line of 1st alley south of
Main Street , running from South 16th to 15tieek alley east .
The Board received communication from Western Oil Refining Co. , ix
regarding cost of moving fi re hydrant at North 7th & "A" Streets ,
by Richmond City Water Works , The Board after viewing the grounds
find that the hydrant would have had to be moved whether the str eet
had been widened or not at this point, the Clerk was directed to no-
tify said oil company, that they had ordered said hydrant relocated
at the expense of the Oil Company erecting firing, station at this
point. •
The Board ordered resolution prepared for improvement of the alley
let south of National Road , from SW.4th Street west to al ley, and the
alley let west of SW.4th Street, from let alley south of national Rd. •
to SW. "D" Street, by constructing cement roadway in said alleys .
The Clerk was directed to prepare an ordinance appropriating $500.00
out of funds of the M.E.L.& P.P. to purchase "Dictaphone" for use of
said plant. and Sup' t. , directed to purchase the same .
The Board received letter from School Sup't. W.'G.Bate , promising to
take care of soil washing into alley at Julia Test High school.
Claims in amount of $2261 .33 werw allowed & ordered. paid.
The Board approved the various payrolls to August 1st , 1924.
