HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-23-1924 100 Office- of Board of Public Works , City of Richmond , Iidiane,., Monday June 23rd, 1924.The Board. of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday June 23rd, 1924, at 9. o' clock A. M. All the members of said- Board Messrs , Land , McFai 1 and Henley being present . The following proceedings - were had , to-wit : -- Pursuant to continuance to this date . The Board met to hear remon- strances, if any, of persons primarily assessed- under Improvement Resolution No. 69;7-1923, providing for the construction of Sanitary Sewer in the alley between South 10th & llth Street, from South"I" to "J" Street. No one appearing or remonstrating„ the Board approved a final assessment roll confirming , in all thins the priginal as- sessment roll heretofore approved, and now direct the same be trans- mi tte d forthwith to the Depart ment of Finance . Pursuant to continuance to this date. The Board met to hear remon- strance s if any of persons primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 718-1924, providing for the improvement of the alley 1st north of Main street , by constructing a cement roadway, . from North 16th to 17th Street. No one appearing or remonstrating, the Board approved a final assessment roll, confirming , in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved, and now direct the same be transmitted forthwith- to the Department of Finance .. Pursuant to continuance to this date . The -Board met to hear remon- strances, if any, of persons, whos-e property is affected by Improve- ment Resolution- No. 739-1924, for the improvement of the alley be- tween South 5th & 6th Street , by cement' roadway therein from South "C" to "D" Street . No one remonstrating against the improvement , the Board being fully advised in the premises decides that the bene- fits to property liable to be assessed for said improvement, are . equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon confirm said reso luti o n without modifi cation. Pursuant to. this date . The Board met to hear all persons interested in, or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 740-1924, provi ding . for the improvement of the aley between South 13th & 14th_ Street, by constructing a cement roadway from South"A" to "B" Street. Afte r hearing all persons intere steel who appeared, and being fully advised in the premises, the Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Cicil Engineer and thereupon take final action on said resolution, the same being confirmed without modi fi cation. In matter of petition for improvement of the all ey between South . 6th .& 7th Street, by constructing cement roadway from South "B" to "C" Street ,taken under advisement at last meeting of the Board , the Clerk reported a remonstrance having been filed against said im- provement si gned by 14 of the 21 resident prope rty owners, the Board order the same placed on file for future referance . A petition signed by all the abutting property owners along the 1st alley south of National Road. from SW.2nd to 3rd Stre'et ,praying that the cement roadway be laid 18ft, wide instead of 20 ft. wide under Improvement Resolution No. 733-1924, was received and on motion of Mr. Henley prayer of petitioners was granted. Konday June 23rd, 1924. • 1-.0 The Board continue hearing in matter of improvement of alley be- tween SW. "A" & Main Street, for cement roadway from 7th to 8th Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 735-1924, to Thursday June 2.6th, 1924. . The Board. unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No.746-1924, to improve the 1st alley north of South. "E" Street, by constructing cement roadway from South 6th Street east, to the alley between South 6th & 7th Street. The Board received notice from the Public Service Commissi o n of Indiana, that the cause of. the City of Richmond , Indiana , vs Terre- Haute, Indianapolis and Eastern Traction Co. ,in matter of said corn- ` . pany soliciting business in territory served by- the Municipal Plant is dismissed by said commission. • , A petition piTne-d' bk H. Niewoehner, Jacob Weber, . • Z.C.Niewoehner, Wm.Wessel ,E.F.May, Wm.S.McClelland,Clara MoC1e11and, Steve Worley , C.M.Lyons,Lucy Lyons and R.F..Burkhardt , requesting that the improve merit of• West 7th Sure et, from Peacock .Road to Main Street and from Main to National Road. under Improvement Resolution No. 640 & 641-1922, be accepted and extra money retained by the City on said contracts be returned to. -th'e contractors, L.P.Beard Construct- - Co. , The Board thereupon direct the Finance Department to return the $2-.,500.00 in- Improvement bonds: retained on said contracts. The Clerk was instructed to notify John Wolfard, to appear before them. at their next meeting Thursday June 26, 1924, in matter of his using a portion of Chestnut Street west of 5th Street , for gardening purposes' without consent of the City. The Board granted permi'ssio n to -Mr. Sl .11ey• to place a gasoline tank under the street on south side' of Elm Place between North 9th & 10th Street, providing he file proper bond wi th the 'City, depositee the amount of money with the Controller, required to place the street back in proper. condi tion and place the tank according to law. . • Claims in amount of ,tip5204.54 were allowed & ordered paid. • • • The Board then adj ourned, • /64J • _ Pr s t. of Board Attest : _ er o oa
