The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met -in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday June 12th 1924, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs , Land, McFall and Henley being present. The following -proceedings were had, to-wit : - The Board ,-met to hear remonstrances, if any of persofis interested in, or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 738-1924,. for the improvement of 'the alley between North 19th & 20th Street , by constructing 'a cement roadway therein, from North "0" to "D" Street. After hearing all persons interested who appeared the Board being duly' advised in the premises, decides that the bene- fits - to property liable to be assessed for said improvement , are e equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, And thereupon take final ' action on said resolution, the same being confirmed without modification. ( The City agrees to pay all over 18V per sq-foot , on account of existing conditions) . The Board met to hear .remonstrances if any, of persons primarily as- sessed under Improvement Resolution No. 668-1923, for the improve- , ment of the' alley between South 8th .&e 9th Street, by cement roadway from South "A" to "B" Street. No one appearing or remonstrating. The Board approved a final assessment roll, confirming in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved, and now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any of persons primarily as- sessed under Improvement Resolution No. 709-1924, for the improvement of the alley between South 12th & 13th Street, by constructing cement roadway from South "A" Street to the lst alley south of Main Street. • No one appearing or remonstrating,. the Board- approved a final assess- ment roll, -confirming the original assessment roll heretofore approve and now direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any of persons primari .y as- sessed under Declaratory Resolution No. 177-1924, for the vacation of the ,alley between North 3rd & 4th. Street, from the alley known as North "B" Street north to the alley lst south of alley .Nnoovn as North "C" Street. No one appearing or remonstrating, the Board ap- proved a final assessment roll of benefits & damages, confirming the original assessment roll heretofore approved,- and now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the ')epartment of Finance, and said alley is hereby declared vacated. ., Permission was granted to. John G. Schwegman, to cut the curb for driveway at Lot 67 , Official Plat, corner South 5th & "Cu Streets. A- communication .was received from The Starr Piano Co. , protesting against the City running their electric lines across their property north of Main Street bridge , the same was referred to the City At- torney and Sup't. , of Light Plant. Lewis Niewoehner appeared before the Board , in behalf of G. J. Lark- in, contractor for the alley between South 7th & 8th Street under Resolution No. 703-1924, requesting to assign his contract _to D. G. Burkhardt, the Board give consent to said assignment. 96 Thursday June 12th, 1924. Notice was received from The Public Service Commission of Indiana, that the commission had approved the contract entered into by the City of Richmond, thru its Board of Public Works and the T.H. I. : E.Traction Co. , entered Onto April 17th, 1924, ratified and ap- proved by the Common Council May 19th , 1924. (See Ordinance hecord "F" page 150 ) . Pursuant of advertisement for Automobiles for M. E. L. & P. Less 4p100.00 allowed for old Ford Truck . The Board awarded the contract to Bethard Auto Co. , for 4 ton truck chassis with closed cab and express body f. o. b. Richmond , for Net price 915.00. " W. E. McWhinney Company, bid : Ford roadster complete f. o. .b yichmond, Ind. , $391.02 The Board award contract for roadster to the W. E. McVJhinney Co. , The Board received bids for "Coal" for City Building et-al as follows, to--wit : - " The E. C. Muff & Son, Feed & Coal Co. , bid: 120 tons more or less Pocahontas M.R.Coal delivered in basement City Hall 5.42. per ton 80 tons more or less Pocahontas Lump, delivered in bins at No' s. 1, 3, 4,& 5 hose houses $6.99 per ton One car load Pocahontas M.R. for Parks 5.49 " " 15 tons more or less Winifred Lump Detention house 5.49 'T " "T Taylor & Thompson Coal Co. , bid; 100 tons more or less Pocahontas M.R.bins City hall-45.64 per ton 80 Ti Ti 11 TY 11 lump bins, 1-3-4-5- 7 . 20 " " One car load Pocahontas H.R. The petition filed for cement sidewalks on west side of North 16 Street, from North "F" to 1T JTT Street ; also praying for gas main extension in said street between the points named, was referred to Councilman L. Salzarulo, to ascertain resident owners of property. 97 Thursday June 12th, 1924. The Board received bidS for improvement of alley between North 17th & 18th Street , by cement z oad way from North "C" to "E" Street,under Improvement resolution No. 732-1924, as follows to-wit : - " Z. Burkhardt , bid ; Cement roadway complete--22w sq-foot , sewer con.--- 1.80 lin-f_t. " E. A. Mariani, bid ; Cement roadway complete-- 022 4/10 sq-ft.sewer con. 02.00 lin-ft. The bid of E. A. '"ariani , being the lowest and within the estimate of the city civil engineer, the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.733-.1924,for improvement_ of the alley 1st south of National Road,from S.W. 2nd to 3rd Street , also, alley between -S.M2nd & 3rd. Street , from 1st alley south of National Road to S.W. "C" Street, as follows to-wit : - " Z. B. Pyle and Co. , bid ; Cement roadway complete-40.23i sq-ft.sewer con. ---- 1.98 lin-ft. _ "Schneider Bros. , bid; • Cement roadway complete- 0.24 sq-ft. sewer con.---- ;1. 50 tin-ft. " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid; Cement roadway complete-$0. 24 sq-ft. sewer con. ----$2.50 tin-ft. " E. A. Mariani , bid ; Cement roadway complete-$0.24 4/10 sq-ft.sewer con-$2..00 lin-ft. The bid of Z. B. Pyle & Co. , being the lowest and within the estimate of the city civil engineer, contract was so awarded. The Board received_ bids under Improvement Resolution No. 734-1924, for improvement of the alley between North 8th & 9th Street , by constructing cement roadway, from North "C" to "D" Street , as fol- lows to-wit: - " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid; Cement roadway complete--$0.22 sq-ft. sewer con. ---41.70 lin-ft. " E. A. Mariani, bid ; Cement roadway complete-- 0.22: sq-ft. sewer con. --y2.00 tin-ft.
