The Board of Publ ic Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board , Monday June 9th,
1924, at 9 o' clock A. 1I. Messrs , Land & McFall being present ;
Absent , Mr. Henley . Two members of said Board being present , the
following proceedings were had , to -wit
The Board met to hear - xke(Ra remonstrances, if any of persons
interested in, or whose property is affected under Improvement Reso-
lution No. 73 -1924, providing for the improvement of North 19th
Street, by paving the roadway wi th one of the fo ll owing kinds of
modern city pavements, to -wit : Brick, Concrete, Sheet -Asphalt or
Rock-Aspha It , from Main to North "C" Street. After hearing all per-
sons interested who appeared (No one appearing or remonstrating)
The Board being duly- advi fled in the premises, decides that the bene-
fits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are
equal to the cost of same , as reported by the City Civil Engineer ,
less the amount which the City agrees to pay on said improvement,
(The City agrees to pay the of the street and all ey intersections
and 106/0' of the cost of roadway on said improve meat ) .The Board the re-
upon takes final action on said resolution, 'the same being confirmed
without modification.
The Board met to hear remonstrance s, if any, of persons intere shed
in or whose property is aff ected by Improvement Resolatio n No. 737
1924,provi ding for Sanitary Sewer for benefit of the property be-
tween S. W. 2nd & 3rd Streets and between the `-`at1 one./ Road and the
let alley south of West Mait Street ,by construction of sanitary sew-
er running from the sewer in all ey between SW.1st & 2nd Street at
vacate d Howard Str,e et ; thence west to private alley between South-
west 1st & 2nd Street; thence- north along private alley to 1st alle3r
south of West Main Street;. Also south 100 feet . After hearing all per
sons interested who appeared, no remonstrance having been received;
the Board being duly advi sed in the pr emis:e-s, decides that the bene
fits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are
equal to the cost of same as reported by the city ci vi 1 engineer &
• thereupon take final action on said resolution, the same being con-
firmed wi th out modi fi cation.
In matter of improvement of -North 19th Street, from North "E" to "G"
Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 727-1924.The City Civil
- Engineer reported there are 14 resident prop erty owne rs re si ding
along the line of the improvement 8 of whom have signed petition for
Asphalt . A majority in number of resident property owners signing
for Asphalt . The Board awarded the contract for said improvement -to
The Andrews Asphalt ving Co. , desi gnati ng that s aid roadway be
paved with Asphalt under said re so luti o n.
In matter of improvement of North 19th Street , from North "C" to "E
Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 731.-1924. The City Civil
Engineer reported there are 24 resident property owners residing
al ong the line of said improvement, 16 of whom have signed petition
for Asphalt . A majority in number of resident property owners sign-
ing for Asphalt . The Board awarded the contract for said improvement
to The Andrewe Asphalt Paving Co. des igna.t ill9 that said roadway be
paved wi th Asphalt under said resolution.

A petition signed by W.M.Manley et-al, praying for gas mains to be
laid in Nthrth 16th Street , from North "F" to "J" Streets , was filed
and referred to Engineeri Department for investigation as to number
of property owne rs .
Permission was granted J.L.Rupe to cut the curb on South "B" Street
at Lot #1 , West Linden Hill, Addition.
Permission was granted F. J. Allen to cut the curb for driveway at
Lot # 3 Scott , Addition. •
A petition for cement roadway in alley between S. W.4th & 5th Streets
from "C" to -"D" Street, taken under advisement.
A petition was presented for the construction of cement sidewalk on
west side of North 16th Street, from North "F" to "J" Street, refered
to Engineer for plans.
A petition—Was presented for cement roadway in 1st alley north of
South "E" Street, from South 6th Street east to Park, referred to
Engineer for plans.. ,
The Clerk reported he had received registered letter from The utarr
Piano Company, insisting that the City remove labels from poles owned
by said company, and in the absence of the Board , he had referred the
- same to Sup' t. , of Light Plant, 'who had answered the same , the Clerk
was directed to place said correspondence on file .
- The Board. approved a 'contract by and between the. Municipal Electric
Light ing & Power Plant and The Fibre Conduit Co. of Orangeburg, N.Y.
for Break-down and. Auxiliary Service. .
The Clerk reported the various. complaints made at last sessi on of
the Common Couneil which had been referred to them.
Communication was received from J. R. Jordan, protesting against the
cementing of the alley between North 19th & 20th Street & "C" & "D"
- Streets , until proper sewer is construe t ed in said all ey, referred
to Street Commissioner to investi gate and report .
The-Clerk was directed to request Mr. Dodd. of the Item and E. H.
Harris of the Palladium, to appear at Board meeting Thursday next
to talk over legal advertising:
Claims in amount of p960,5. 61 were allowed, and the various pay-rolls
to June 1st , 1924, were approved.
The Board then adjourned,
