Thursday May 29 th , 1924.
The Board of Public Works of the C ity of Richmond , Indi ana, met .
in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 29th,.
1924, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs ,
Land, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings
were had , to-wit : ®
The Board met. to hear all' persons interested in or whose prop erty
is affected by Improvement Resolution No. 735-1924, for the im-
provement of the alley between Southwest "A" & Main Street , by
construction of cement roadway, from Southwest 7th to 8th Street.
A remonstrance sigeadd by Elbert Vickery & 6 others having been.
filed the remonstrance was referred to City Civil Engineer for
investigation and report, and hearing on said improvement reso-
lutio n was continued to' June 2nd , 192'4.
The Board met to hear remonstrance s, if any, of persons primarily
assessed 'in the matte r of bene fits & damage s, for the wid ening
of the alley between South 9th & 10th Street, from South "C" to
"E" Street, under Declaratory Resolution No. 175-1924. After hear-
ing all personss interested who appeared and no one remonstrating
against the amount of benefits'. assessed and damages awarded. the
Board' 'approved a final assessment ro 1T of be ne fits & damage as
heretofore approved, and directed the same be transmitted forthwith
to the Department of finance , and now declare said alley widened
as proposed under said resolution.
The Board. accepted a strip of ground approximately 3Oft, wide off
the entire south end of Tract No.: 220 Official Map., abutting on
north side of Southwest "E" Street 140 ft. more or less in length.
The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of contract under
Improvement Resolution No. 697-1923, for construcion of sanitary
sewer in -alley between South 10th & 11th Street, from South "I"
to "J" Street, the Board acc epted the same and ordered assessment
roll prepared.
The City Civil- Engineer, reported the completion of contract under
Improvement Resolution No. 718-1924, for constructing a cement
roadway in the. 1st alley north of Main Street , from North 16th
to ' 17th Street, The Board. acc epted the same and ordered assessment
roll prepared, and assessing all property within 150 feet abut-
tin on North 16th & 17th Street and north of said alley. •
• The Baord received a petition for constructing cement roadway in
alley between North "F" St..' & Glen Ave , from North 21st to 22nd
Street , the same was referred to Engineer for plans etc . , V
The Board unanimously adapted Improvement Resolution No. 74.1-1d24
for the improvement of the alley between South 14th & 15th Street
by constructing cement roadway from South "D" to "E" Street.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 742-1924
for the improvement of Ratliff Street; by constructing cement
curb , gutter & 5' sidewalks both sides of street and paving the
roadway with gravel and -macadam from School to Stevens Street .

The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 743-1924
for the improvement of Southwest "D" Street, by constructing
. 'cement curb , gutter & 5 foot sidewalk on both sides, of street ,
and paving the roadway with gravel & macadam , from Southwest 1st
Street to the west corporation line .
It was decided on motion by the Board, that whereas, the Citi. tens
Committee and Public Utility Committee of the Common Council had
recommended that the salary of Mr. D. C. Hestia, Superintendent of
Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant be increased from T$4200.00
per annum to 6.6 ,000.00 per annum, that the City Attorney be instruct-
ed to prepare an ordinance or resolution, and present the same to
the Council at their next meeting night , with the recommendation
that said salary be increased beginning as of date of June 1 ,19241
motion unanimously prevailed and City Attorney so instructed.
Claims in amount of 4'2103.61 were. allowed and ordered paid .
The Board then adjourned,
