The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indi ana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday May 26th , 1924, at 9 , o'clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , Land , McFai l and Henley being present . The fo llowing proceedings were had , to-wit : - - • Pursuant to continuance to this date . The Board met to hear all persons interested in, or whose property is affected by the improve- ment of the alley 1st south of Naioiial Road. from S.W.2nd to 3rd St. also , the alley between S.W. 2nd & 3rd Street, from 1st alley south of National Road to Southwest "C" Street, under Improvement Resolu- tion No.. 733-1924. After hearing all persons interested who appeared (no one appearing) . The Board being fuly advised in the premises de- cide that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the scant of same as reported by the city civil engineer, and thereupon take final action on said resolution the same being confirmed without modification. The Board met to hear_all persons' intersetd in or whose property is affected by the improvement of the alley between North 8th. & 9th St. by constructing a cement roadway from North "C" Street to Elm •Place under Improvement Resolution No. 734-192-4. A remonstrance having been filed against that portion of said alley running from North "D" to Elms Place ; The Board thereupon modify said resolution to re ad from North "C" to "D" Street, the Board being 'duly advised in the prem- ises decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of the. same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution, the same being confirmed as modified. . • The Board a pri ma ry assessment ro 11 of bene fits and damage s in the matter of the vacation of the alley between North 3rd. & 4th Street frok the alley known as' North "B" Street, north to the alley 1st south of the alley known as North "C" Street, under Declaratory Re- • solution No. 1.77-1924, and fix the 12th day of June , 1924, 9 o'clock A.M. as a date & time for hearing. remonstrances against said assess- ments The Board approved a primary assessment roll under Improvement Reso- lution No. 668-19?3, for the improvement of the alley between South 8th & 9th Street , by co nstr uc ti ng a cement roadway from South "A" to "B" Street. The Board approved a primary assessment roll under Improvement Reso- • lution No. 709-1924, for the improvement of the alley between South 12th & 13th Street, by constructing a cement roadway from South "A" Street north to 1st alley south of Main Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolmtio.n No.. 739 -1924 • for the. improvement of the alley between -South 5th & 6th Street ,by constructing a cement roadway. from South "C" to "D" Street . The Board unanimously adopted Improvement 1.`esolutio n No. 740-1924 for the improvement . of the alley between South 13th & 14th Street by constructing a cement roadway from South "A" to "B" Street . Monday May 26th , 1924. -8 A petition signed by Edgar M. Bitters et-al, praying for the im- provement of Ratliff Street, by constructing cement curb , gutter and sidewalks on both sides of street and grading a paving the roadway wi th gravel base and macadam top, referred to Engineering Department for investigation. ( from School to Stevens Street) . Ohief of Fire Department Miller, reported that the Fire Department made a run to Last Havae. Avenue on May 24, 1924, west of the city. The following re soluti o n was unanimously adopted, by the Board ; WHEREAS, The contract between the City of Richmond , Indiana , and The Andrews Paving Company of Hamilton, Ohio , contemplates resurfac-- ing the Roadway of West 5th Street from National Road to Richmond Ave , over the present macadam base, and , Whereas, it is the desire of said City not to distrub any of the macadam base on said street,and, WHEREAS, the original contract with the said The Andrews Asphalt Paving Co. , contemplates the removal of approximately g" of said • macadam base , and WHEREAS , the Andrews asphalt Paving Co. , has consented to a reduction of ten cents (10c0 per square yard in its pri ce for resurfacing said street in consideration of said City allow- ing said 3" of- ma cad am base to remain undisturbed ; Now, Therefore , be it resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of. Aichmond , Indiana, that the existi ng contract between the City of Richmond, Indiana, and The Andrews Asphalt Paving Company of Hamilton, Ohio, for the paving of the roadway in the improvement. of ii,est 5th Street in said City from National Road. to Richmond , Ave. made and entered into March 24, 1924, with the consent of The Andrews Asphalt Paving Company, be , and the same is hereby modified and alter- ed so as to provide that the rai is of athe tracl1 of the Street Rai.lwa; Company, occupying said street, be raised approximately 3" so that the surface of the improvement will meet the top of said rai is and be par- allel thereto , and furthermore , that said pavement shall extend over the gutter to the curb line on either side of said street, the said additional paveme nt over gutter -to paid for at the same pri ce as the remainder of the street , namely One Dollar and Eighty-Five Cents ($l.85 ) per square yard . . Henley Board of Public Works The Clerk was directed to ail vertise , for bids for one Roadster, suitab7 for slip-on body. and one- ( One Ton) truck wi th cab and body, both to be completely equiped with starters, etc . , also , as to what al- lowance wi 11 be made by the bi dder if any, for the old Ford Roadster.
