The Board. of Public Works of, the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session 'at the office of said 'Board Thursday May 22nd, 1924, at 9 o'clock A. M. All the membe rs.• of said Board Messrs , Land, McFail & lienley being present. The following proceedings were had , to -wit . - -• The Board met to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons interested or whose prop erty is affected under feels.rato ry Resolution No.17 7- 1924, providing 'for the vacation of the all ey between North 3rd & - 4th Street, from the alley -known as North "B" Street, north to the - alley 1st south of North "C" Street. After hearing all persons who appeared, the Board being fully advi sed in the premises , confirm the resolution without modification and now order a list or roll of property (holders ) affected, which list or roll shall also show - the property beneficially affected or damaged. In matter of improvement of the alley between North 18th & 17th Street , by cement roadway from North "C" to "E" Street, under Im- prove ment so luti on No. 732-1924. A remons trance agidantt which was filed on May 19th, 1924 and referred to the Engineering Depart- went. The City Civil Engineer reported that there are 24 resident property owners , 9, of whom have signed the remonstrance . There be- ing a number less than the majority of the resident property owners who have signed the remonstrance , the board now overrules said re- monstrance , and upon motion, confirm all action heretofore taken bn said improvement resolution. The City Civil Engineer, retorted the completion of contract under Improvement Resolution No. 709-1924, for cement roadway in alley between South 12th & 13th Street, from South "A" Street to 1st al- ley° south of Main Street, the Board accepted the same and ordered assessment roll prepared. The Board received petition for improvement of the alley between South 5th & 6th Street, by cement roadway from South "C" to "D" - Street, same was referred to Engineer for plans etc . ,, The Clerk reported, he had received a report of examination of the records of the Richmond City Water Works, from the Public Service Commission of Indiana. The same was referred to City Attorney. Tae Board approved a plat laid out by Levi C . Peacock , consisting of 132 town lots , streets • & alleys dedicated to public use, between the Peacock Road: & West Main Street and between Northwest 8th & 10th. Street . The Clerk was directed to notify John S. Duke contractor, to appear before them at their next meeting Monday May 26 , 1924, 9 , A .M. The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley 1st west of North 10th Street , from North "I" Street north , under Improve- ment Resolution No. 730 -1924, as follows ; " Daniel G. Burkhardt, cement roadway comple te----.30 ,sq.-foot . The bid be ing above the estimate of the ci ty civil engineer con- tract was not awarded. Thursday May 22nd , 1924. 87 The Board received bids for the improvement of North' 19th Street, by constructing cement curb & gutter from P. C .C.& St.L.R.R.bridge ' to North "G" Street , and, paving the roadway with one of the fol- lowing kinds of pavements, to -wit : - Brick, Concrete , ,Sheet-Asphalt or Rock Asphalt , from North "E" to "G" Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 727 -1924, as fo Vows, to-wit : - " The Andrews Asphalt Paving C o. , bid ; - Cement curb & gutter, (Straight & Circle ) Y'l.10 per tin-foot Sheet Asphalt 2.88 per sq-yard 51. 20 per lin-foot " Z. B. Pyle Co. , bid ; Cement curb & gutter (Straight) T' " '► (Circle ) 1.50 " IT Concrete roadway 3.07 " sq-yard The Board thereupon enters its preliminary Order; desi gnating that said North 19th Street, be paved using Sheet -Asphalt , from North "E" to "G".:.Street. The Board recei ved bids for the improvement of North 19th Street, ' by paving the roadway wi th one of the following kinds of pavements as fo Vows, to -wit ; Brick, C oncre to , Sheet-Asphalt or Rock-Asphalt from North "C" to "E" Street , as fo slows to-wit : " The Andrews Asphalt Pavi ng Co. , bid ; Pavi ng roadway wi. th Sheet -Asphalt 02.88 per sq-yard. Z. B. Pyle Co. , bid ; Paving roadway wi th Concrete -03.07 per s q-yard The Board now enteres its preliminary order designating that said North 19th Street , be paved using Sheet -Asphalt ,. from North "C" to "E" Street under Improvement,n,i' esolution No. 731-1924. The bid of Z. B. Pyle Co. , for boncrete roadway being above the estimate as filed by the City Civil Engineer, filed their agreement with the Board, agreeing to do the said paving at the estimate of the Engineer, 03.00 per sq-yard. - Claims in amount of 07467. 29 were allowed & ordered paid.
