RESOLUTION NO. 1493
SUPPORTING EDWARD HOSPITAL EXPANSION INTO PLAINFIELD
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield is a unit of Illinois Local Government and is
interested in the safety, welfare, and health care of its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield is centrally located in the fastest growing area of
the state which would be the logical site to place hospital beds.
WHEREAS, Edward Hospital has applied for a Certificate of Need to build the Edward
Plainfield Hospital on a 60-acre site at 127' Street and Van Dyke Road; and
WHEREAS, Edward Plainfield Hospital is the best means to ensure that health care
services are appropriately located to meet the needs of the residents of the Village of
Plainfield; and
WHEREAS, The Edward Plainfield Hospital project means that the residents of the
Village of Plainfield would no longer be forced to travel excessive distances to receive
health care services. Nearly 34% of Edward Hospital's inpatients and 45% of Edward
Hospital's obstetrics patients are from the service area where the proposed Edward
Plainfield Hospital would be built; and
WHEREAS, Edward Plainfield Hospital would provide access to health care in
emergency situations and allow emergency services personnel and equipment to spend
more time performing essential functions rather than traveling to and from area hospitals.
WHEREAS, as elected officials, the Plainfield Village Board of Trustees recognizes the
importance of providing good health care to its community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village of Plainfield continues to
support the Edward Plainfield Hospital project..
