Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular sessi on at the office of 'said Board Monday March 24th 1924, at 9 o'clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , Land , McFall and 'Henley bei ng present . The fo llowing proceedings were had , to-wit : - . Pursuant to conti nuanoe to this date the Board take up the natter - of hearing for cement roadway in first alley north of National Rd. , from Southwest 10th to llth Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 7 2 2-192 4. The Board after having' care fully gone over the ground • - on motion rescind the resolution. . The Board unanimously ad op to d Improvement Resolution No. 725-1924 -for the improyemerit of South 7th Stre et, by constructing cement curb & gutter on both sides of street from South "H" to "J" Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolutio h No. 726-1924, for the improve then t of Boyer . Stre et ; by constructi ng . cement curb 8 gutter and ' sidewalks 5' wide on both sides of street and grading and pe v ing the roadway with gravel and mA cadam from Sehoo 1 to Stev- ens Street . . - The Board award the contract for Motor Driven Road Roller and Scs.ri- fi er, to The Buffalo-Spri ngfi eld Roller Co. , of Springfi eld , nib. -The Board approved primary assessment roll for the ' grading of the 1st alley north of North "G" Street, from North 14th Street west to • the all ey between North 13th & 14th Street , under Improvement Reso- luti o n .No. 696-1924, and now direct the Clerk to assess the back lri ng lots north ' of said all ey on west side of North 14th Street to a point 150 feet north of alley. Fire Chief Miller was directed to purchase a new motor for the No.3 Hose Wagon. The Street Commissioner was authorized to trade Ford Truck for Road- ster with Body for 'str eet depart ment use. • The Board app roved the following contracts and bonds ' on improvements named:- Resolution No. 711-1924, J. L. Teegarden contractor'; N. "A" Resolution No. '715-1924, Hayes Construction Co., contractors , S.18th Reso lu.tio n -No. 717-1924, Schnei der Bros, contractors , all ey; and Resolution No. 718-1924, Daniel G. Burkhardt , 'contractor. The Board award contract to W. B. Howe, to point out the south. and . east and north walls of the city bui lding at price of ti?100 .00 . Upon request of the so le owners of property in Northwest 6th Street in Sedgwick Place , the contract for said street 'was on notion award- ed to John F.' Hipsk ind , using Bituminous -Macadam for street , under . Improvement Resolution No. 720-1924. 62 Monday March 24th , 1924. • The Board received letter in form of agreement with T.11. I.83 E. Traction Co., signed by G.1'_. Jeffr. ies, General Superintendent ,in matter of 'improvement of North "E" Street from 16th to 24th Street and North '20th Street from Main to North "E" Stre et as fo 11 ows : - Owi ng to certain conditions explained to the Board its is im- practicable for the company to install the 7" rai 1 shown on the drawing and we submit as alternative the relayi ng of the track with a smaller rail, accepti ng the concre to foundation design under the ties , but substituting another class of paving adjacent to the rail, which type is sh own on companies . drawing dated March 22nd, 1924, at -- tached to this letter. The type of surface pavement however, adjacent to the rai 1 to be sub je ct to experimentation and agreement bet,ween the engi neers of the City & company. It is understood that the Com- pany will only 'be called on to bear such additional expense over & above the contract pri ce for paving the other portion of the streets as is directly due to the installation of the track, which was ac- ce pte d by the Board and signed. The Board received letter or form of' agreement with m.H. 1.8: E. Traction Co. , signed by G.✓. Jeffr led, General Sup° t . , in matter of improvement of West 5th Street from National Road to Richmond Ave . , as follows: - After your contractor has completed his excavations as under his contra ct , this company afte r bri ngi ng the pre sent tra ck to the new grade on gray el ba lla st , wi 11 fi 11 betw e en the ties and over the same to the base of the sheet asphalt , with concre to . The pav- ing adjacent to the rai 1 to be subject to exper.bent .ti o n- and agreement between the engineers of the City and Company. The Asphalt surface to be installed without expense to the T.H. I.& E. Traction Co. , which was accepted and signed by the Board. . The Board on motion award the contract for the improvement of North "E" Street, by constructing sid ewalks , curb & gutters on both sides and paving the roadway using Sheet Asphalt, from 16th to 24th Stre et under Improvement Resolution No. 707 -1924, to The Andrews Asphalt Pavi ng C ornpany e as per. bid of Mar oh 6th , 192 4. In matter of improvement of North 20th Street, by constructing ce - meat s id ewal ks , C.& G. on both s id es and paving roadway from Main to Borth "E" Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 698 -1923, the Board award the contract for said improvement to The Andrews • Asphalt Paving Company, usi ng Sheet Asphalt for said roadway1 as pe r bid of Mar ch 6th , 19 24.In matter of impro ve ment of West 5th Street from Nat i ona 1 Road. to Richmond Avenue , under Improvement Resolution No. 712m1924. the Board awarded the contract to the Andrews Asphalt Paving Company specifying Sheet Asphalt for said ro adway, as per bid of March 6th, 1924.
