HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-20-1924 • 5 Offi ce of Board of Publ is Works City of Richmond , Indiana; Thursday March 20 th, 19 24. • The Board of Publ is Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met • in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday March 20th , 1924, at 9 o' clock A. M. Messrs , McFall and 'Henley present . Absent , Mr. Land , Two members of said Board bei ng present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property is affected under Declaratory Resolution No. 172ti-1924, for the condemnation & appropriation of a part of the S.Iru. Sec. 32, Twsp. 14 , Rnge . 1, West . and all that part of Lot N o. 39 , in the town of Clifton laid out by E. & J. Railsback , lying south of Richmond Ave . and east of Randolph Street as now laid out , for park pur - - poses. A remonstrance was filed by H. U. Johnson, Atty. for Mil- ton Atkinson, owner of part of SW.Quar.Sec.32, twsp .14 ,rnge .1, west , for the reason that said real estate is not needed to be appropriated or condemned for Park or any other purpose for said City of Richmond , Ind., and that said Park is of no public uti lity whatever 'for such purposes. The Board take the same under advi se- ment and continue hearing on said resolution to Thursday April 10th , 1924. The Boa rd approved the contract & bond of John F. Hip skind, con- tra ctor under Improvement Resolution No. 719 -1924 , for sewer in Northwest 6th Street , in Sedgwick Place . The Chief of Fire Department was directed to have hose wagon' re- paired, or to purchase new motor for same . • There bei ng no other petition than c oncre to , fi led for the im- provement of North "A" Street , from Ft-Wayne Ave . to North 3rd Street , under Improvement Resolution No..711-1924, and the Board having heretofore designated Concrete , on motion the contract for the improvement of said. street, was awarded to J. L. Tee- . garden , at the prices named in his bid submitted therefore on March 6th , 1924. The Board having designated that South 18th Street from Reevest ton Road to South "E" Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 715-1924, be paved wi th Bituminous Ma cad am , and no pe ti ti o n hav- ing been filed for any other tmvement . On motion the contract for same was awarded to the Hayes Construction Co., at prices named in bid. submitted therefore March •6th , 1924. The Board received bids for the improvement of Sherman Street; also , Butler Street under Improvement Resolution No. 713-1924 as follows , to -wit : " Connor ,Bearly & Jinks , bid : Sherman Street comple to $9 .00 per lin-foot Butler Street , complete 14.00 " " The bid of Connor , Bear ly & Jinks , bei ng the only bid received and being above the estimate of the city ci vi 1 engi neer, contract was not awarded Thursday March 20th, 1924. 59 The 'Board received bid for the improvement of the all ey between South 7th & 8th Street , by constructing a cement roadway,from South "F" to "G" Street under Improvement Resolution No.717 - 1924, as follows to-wit : " .Schneider Bros , bid ; Cement roadway complete - -?0.224 square foot Sewer connections to lot line 1.25 linear foot " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid ; Cement roadway complete ?0. 22zc/ square foot 6" sewer taps comp le to 2.50 linear " E. A. Iiiariani , bid; Cement roadway complete ?0.23 squa re foot Sewer cone ctio ns 1. 75° linear " " Connor, Bearly & Kinks , bid ; Cement roadway complete ?0.240 square foot Sewer .connectbns;--- 1. 25 linear " The bid of Schneider Brbs . , being the lowest and within the es- ti.mate of city civil engineer , the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 718 -1924 for improvement of the all ey 1st north of Main Street, by cem it roadway from North 16th to 17th Street , as follows to Flit : " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid ; Cement roadway complete ---- - ----?0.22 square foot Sewer taps 6" complete 2.50 linear " " E. A. Ear leni, bid ; . Cement roadway complete - ---- --- ---$0.23 square foot Sewer connections -- - 1.75 linear " " Schneider Bros . , bid ; Cement roadway complete $0. 23i square foot Sewer connections 1.25 linear " " Connor, Bearly & Jinks , bid ; - Cement roadway complete ?0.24 square foot Sewer connections 1.25 linear foot The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt , being the lowest and within the estimate of city civil engi neer, the contract was so awarded. The Board rec ei ve.d bids under Impro vement re solution No.721-1924 for the improvement ofSouth 21st Street , by grading and pavi ng the roadway with one of the fo 11 owing kinds of modern city pavements Bituminous Macadam , Concrete , Brick or Asphalt , from Reeveston Road to South "E" Street , as follows to -wit :- " John F. On account of not having had a conference with the T.II. I.& E. Trac- tion Co . , in regard to their part of improvement on Westhr.,5th Street North "E" Street and North 20th Street, and. controversy over peti- tions fi led, the Board conti nue action on same to Monday March 24th 1924. , and direct the Cle rk to advise the T.H.
