The Boa rd •of Public .Works of the City of Ri chmond , Indi ana , met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday February
18th, 1924, at 9 o' clock A.1.1. All the members of said Board ,
Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley being present . The follova ng pro-
. ceed ings w ere had , to -wit : - -
The Board directed the E Uiance Bepartnient , to pay the following
contractors the 5�o retained as follows , John F. Hipsl.nd ,Contractor.
Imp. Res .#624 -1922-- ?73 .51, Imp.Res .637-1922--035.91. Also to E. M.
Curtis Contractor, Imp.Res .7 642-1922-----y66.77 .
Pursuant to continuance to this date , the Board. met to hear all
persons interested or whose property is affected• by the improvement
•of Southwest 10th Street from best Main Street to the National
Road, as provi ded for under Resolution No.704-1924. The Board con-
tinued hearing on said improvement to March 3rd , 1924, or until
an opinion could be had of compelling the Gas Co. to lay gas main .
in said street .
A remonstrance having been filed signed by Martin Hengster & 5 la
other interested property owners , against the improvement of Sher-
man and Butler Streets , from Sheridan to south terthinous of Butler
Street , under Resolution No. 713-1924. The Board that a majority
of the resident property owners have 'remonstrated, they can pro-
ceed no farther in said improvement unless directed to do-so by
- ordinance passed by the Common Council and a roved by the Mj-or,,
and, thereupon order - an ordinance prepared to be submitted to the
Council for their action.
The Board approved the contract end bond of the Hayes Construction
Company to furnish and app ly tarvia on city ' s str eets 1924.
The Fire Chief reported that Hose Companies ii 21; 5 responed to an
alarm of fire to the Fiber Conduit Co. factories west of the' City
limits on Feb ru ary 15 th , 1924, using 1800 feet of hose , and said
companies where the re for one hour , each.
. The Matter of investigating as to whether the City can compel]. the
Gas Company to laY gas mains in streets to be permanently improved
was referred to the City Attorney, and he was rlioEem yx requested
to immddi ate ly 'take up the question with the pas Co. , especially
in Southwest 10th 'Street between National Road. 82 Southwest "A" St.
South 18th Street and South 21st Streets , from Reeveston Road to
South "L" Street, and make report on same as soon as possible .
I The Clerk was . directed to notify the T. H. I. & E. Traction Co. ,
that the ci ty- will receive bids for the - paving of North 20th St.
from Main to North "E" St. North "E" St. from 16th to 24th St.
and vest 5th Street , from National Road. to Richmond Avenue., an
March 5th, 1924, at 10 o'clock A. M. and direct them to be pre-
pared to take care of the parts of said improvements .

The Commission deems it for the best in-
terests of the city that this street be opened, and recommend
• to your honorable body that it be done according to the at-
tached plat .

,the following, to-wit ;
Vie the undersigned, being petitioners and owners and the only
parti es interested therein on the Improvement hesolution No.
719-1924, for the construction of a Sanitary•Sewer in Sedgwick
Place ; also , Improvement resolution No. 720-1924 , for the grad-
ing & paving and constructing cement curb , gutter & walks on
Northwest 6th Street in Sedgwick Place , hereby waive all right
of heating and remonstrance against the construction of the
same , and agree to pay the assessment therefor Then due , the
same is if all for mali ti es had been carried out .
